Notice I'll be more than happy to put misuse of the Bible on the firing line.

which we see as doing / believing what we feel like
doing, in preference to what is objectively true or motprally right.

It does surprise me.
I had assumed that Christians would naturally
feel a special duty of care to be honest and truthful.
but making things up and presenting them as fact
is very common practice.

It does no, though, influence me one way or the
other with regard to any belief I might have had in god

And how would you determine that?

If I said Jesus walked on water, would you accept that as "honest and truthful"?

But making things up and presenting them as fact is very common practice.

And if I presented Jesus as having walked on water as fact, would you think, "Wow, he knows the Bible"?

Or would you think, "He's making this up and presenting it as fact"?

I've been considered a [nutcase] before, even AFTER having backed up what I said with Scripture (and even Wikipedia).

So again I ask, what criteria do you use for determining if a person is stating something he believes is factual; or just making it up?
