It does not speak of it directly but indirectly. For in the story of Noah we read of tree windows of heaven being opened to let out the rain: this would help to explain why it rains in some places as opposed to all places. And this would align with Genesis 1:6-8 when God created the heavens to separate the waters from the waters: the only way the heavens could hold up the waters above is if it were solid. And when one observes the path of the luminaries try will see year try travel in an arching motion this is only possible under a dome. And when you look at the rainbow it forms the same arch as the luminaries.

Oh dear dear my friend. You misinterpret scripture vastly. You place your own view on these passages which are very much far away from reality. Its not as black and white as you try to make out.

Just the usual questions that most people have about how a flat disk floating in space would work. My research has pretty much given me the answers to my questions.

My main interest, like I said in my long initial post here, is in trying to get inside the mind of somebody who can look reality smack in the face and flat-out deny it. In reading the comments on YouTube flat earth videos I am discovering that the FE belief is even more widespread than I imagined.

I'm just looking for some kind of unifying theory that I can apply to understanding this mass delusion across the population.

For example, has the public school system failed the last couple of generation of children? Is the teaching from the pulpit so corrupt that good biblical exposition is non-existent? Has the no-boundaries media warped people's minds?

If I thought this FE stuff was all a joke, and a passing fad, it wouldn't matter. But, these folks are dead serious, and they are dragging a lot of impressionable people along with them into their delusion. The dumbing down of our population is happening at an alarming rate, and it worries me.

Which delusion? The FE delusion.. or the globe delusion.. Both camps claim that the other is guilty.

Personally, I think it has.. it tells kids "believe this because it's true", instead of "search yourself and prove what is true..."

It is also so messed up that kids are graduating high school and cannot do math, read, write don't have to take Gym class and are unhealthy and out of shape.... and have not one clue about how to manage money or be good members of society....

They are basically told that nobody can tell them that they are wrong... If they think something is OK... it's OK....They cannot fail or be told that they are failing...

My sister is a teacher and got called up to the principals office for telling a kid " you didn't do what I asked you to do"... Are you serious?

My friends wife is a teacher. She was told to give a student a good grade in French class because she excels in all the other classes but will be psychologically damaged if she gets a bad grade in French.. and it will bring her average down....

My father, on the flip side, in the late 30's got the strap for every question that he got wrong on a test... He also got 90% on a test that he answered every question correctly.. the teacher just smirked and said "Nobody's Perfect".

WOW.. has the pendulum swung.. or what?

If I thought this FE stuff was all a joke, and a passing fad, it wouldn't matter. But, these folks are dead serious, and they are dragging a lot of impressionable people along with them into their delusion. The dumbing down of our population is happening at an alarming rate, and it worries me.

I have two post-graduate degrees and believe in the flat earth and firmament as described in Scripture. Just because you believe in the spherical, heliocentric model don't presume that others who disagree with your assessment are impressionable and dumbed-down. That is a logical fallacy.

Based on this, one certainly would not claim that this disparate result was due to one or the other scientist being uneducated or dumbed-down. Same thing with the "earth is getting warmer" theory which some scientists support and others oppose. Sometimes disagreements do arise because the other side is not as well-educated or informed. If that were the case, the flat earth idea would have met its demise a long time ago on it own. I appreciate your reasoned answer. But let's explore that a bit.

I meant it when I said my wife knew astronaut Gene Cernan. She visited him at his house, and he told her stories about what it was like to walk on the moon, and about the incredible views of the spherical earth from the moon and from space.

Was Mr. Cernan delusional? Was he part of the moon landing conspiracy and was he lying to impress my wife? If it was indeed true that he did and saw all that he said he did, what would he think of someone visiting at the same time who declared without reservation to Mr. Cernan's face that the earth is flat, that there was no moon landing, and that space as Mr. Cernan saw and experienced it did not exist?

As an astronaught Mr. Cernan probably did have some scientific credentials, but more importantly he was there. He did it and saw it. We're not talking about some earth-based scientific experiment. The man actually walked on the moon.

Let's face it. Someone in this scenario has to be wrong.

The Flat Earth movement has always been held by a very small contingent of the population (current estimates - 2 per-cent).

It has been foremost, a populist position .... with very few, if any, scientists giving it credence.
