  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The idea that a person's moral thinking and beliefs can be linked to their beliefs on human origins is one that I could never buy into.

Evolution is simply a theory about how life came to be what it is today, whether through the natural process of the universe of God guiding it (as I believe). Evolution is adaptation. Natural selection doesn't throw out the idea of morality. Saying that indicates a complete misunderstanding of what natural selection is. It just states that certain species will adapt in a way that others will not. That does not say that we should be part of a "dog-eat-dog" world and step all over each other.

Eric Hovind is a true thorn in my ear and a lot of others. But I wouldn't think He'd stoop so low as to take advantage of the Josh Duggar situation and try to flip it into an anti-evolutionary agenda. Seriously how childish. I understand that Duggar's in serious hot water for his past misgivings and is being punished accordingly. He hasn't been arrested so far as I know, he just got a completely disingenuous show off the air and possibly cancelled. Great.

So what's the deal here? It's 2015 and people are still trying to push anti-evolution? That ship is sinking. More importantly can we respect the whole situation enough to not use it as a springboard for your own agenda please, Eric?

The theory of evolution is its own agenda.
