  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Evolution False? Absolute proof inside.

You do not understand, if the mountain rose, the sea shells would have broke, or fel apart even if they were fossils, which there 100% intact, theres another way it would have became a fossil, because if the water covered way higher then mount everest, so there would be alot of preasure from the water, sense the flood covered the whole world, so thats how they became fossils.

No, we do understand and you have a very child-like concept of geology. When an upthrust occurs, it's not as if it churns and roils as the formation rises. The entire body of the formation gets uplifted.

Here. This pamphlet explains how the various interactions between boundaries work.
Understanding plate motions [This Dynamic Earth, USGS]
If you take the sidebar at the bottom, it even has an image explaining how India has been smashing into the Tibetan Plateau over the last 20 million years trusting up the Himalayas - which continue to grow to this day.
The Himalayas [This Dynamic Earth, USGS]
The Himalayas and the Tibetan Plateau to the north have risen very rapidly. In just 50 million years, peaks such as Mt. Everest have risen to heights of more than 9 km. The impinging of the two landmasses has yet to end. The Himalayas continue to rise more than 1 cm a year...

Um ... bro?

About your location?
You mean why I have Babylon as my location?
I would say that is a fairly accurate description of CF considerning all the differences and "babel" here. :p

1 Peter 5:13
The church in Babylon/Jerusalem, chosen together with you, greets you.
and so does Mark, my son.

Rabbi: "Shalom. Send that pic asap bro!"

Instead of a huge mountain rise in elevation over a long period of time, I am inclined to believe for a massive change in location of land mass (Flood aftermath) and subsequent settling of earth's equilibrium over a short period. (This would make some go up and some go down)

Did you know that there is a visible difference between geography features which formed quickly verses those which form slowly?

In my scenario nothing really formed.

Oh dear....

Do you realise that you can go out right now, and measure the continuing formation of mountain systems....!?

Even today, India is still slowing pushing against Asia, moving north about one centimeter every six months, and that is still pushing the land upward, so the Himalayas are still growing and getting higher and higher.

Nothing really formed, huh...?

From how far out though?
Thaumaturgy argues that India torpedoed itself into Asia, and is still shoving itself inland, causing the mountains of Tibet to rise, I think, 5 centimeters per year.

Yet this assumes that at one time India was detached from Asia for some unknown distance; and when I asked how long it took for India to ram into Asia, the answer I got was 250 million years.

I don't buy that at all.

I have no proplem with the mountains rising 5 centimeters per year, or even India shoving itself northward; but I do have a serious problem with the 250 million years requirement.

Unless something is formed out of nothing....

Gen 2:8
YAHWEH Elohiym planted a garden eastward in Eden,
and there He put the man whom He had formed.

Rom 9:20
But indeed O man! who are you to reply against Elohiym?
Will the thing formed say to him who formed it, 'Why have you made me like this'?

I would like to see what kind of catastrophe you think would cause a land mass of that size to move that fast that it could get there in thousands rather than millions of years.
Perhaps it never left the continent in the first place?

Did you ever think of that?

You were the one who claimed it torpedoed, I was going off of that.

Also, plant life and rock patterns, amongst other things, are evidence that indeed India broke away.

Of course, but if all is created by god, then why is the outer appearance of mountains, etc, deceiving?
Well it seems that you are the one that is basing what you believe on looks. I wasn't I was basing what I believe on what the Bible says and adding to that some logic to understand how it came about

I fact check what I read :p

Also, it isn't just looking at the formations (although this does reveal a lot), but even if that were just the case, they shouldn't look old if they aren't. After all, if god is omnipotent and omniscient, this means not one detail was made without it knowing about it and the consequences, and making a decision. Why make the decision which will result in the bible apparently conflicting with observations?
