  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Can you name one high-profile Christian today who would not be called a "liar" by someone here?

Even Jesus was considered a "deceiver" by His contemporaries.

The Pope seems like a decent candidate for being generally accepted. Thinks that Evolution is A.OK. according to the Bible and doesn't take issue with the Big Bang theory at all. Scientists often enough take issue with any given miracle, but then, the Catholic Church likes investigating them as well.

What point? that we're all liars but you?

Must be a bummer that you've now got to try to attack me with false claims about what I'm posting, vs realizing that when Preachers speak about what they don't know about, it damages any possible witness for Christ they might have.

Including here?

St. Augustine said:
"Likewise, he affirmed that the Virgin Mary "conceived as virgin, gave birth as virgin and stayed virgin forever".

What, don't like knowing if the person you're arguing with is a Christian, an Atheist, a Muslim or a Jew perhaps? Want to know if I say "Merry Christmas" or "Happy Holidays"? What if I say "Io Saturnalia" ?

You'll just have to keep on taking my posts for what they are and not rely on a preconceived bias based on what faith I follow. Suffice enough for your purposes when I was asked in whom I placed my trust, I answered God.

Well, maybe one of these days you'll be in a position to have to answer a question like:

Where did the Flood waters go?

- or -

Where did Jesus get His y-chromosome?

... and you can dazzle us with your speculations.

In the meantime, we'll keep answering ... um ... extra-Biblical questions with speculations, and you can keep taking potshots at us.

Fair enough?

You do not understand, if the mountain rose, the sea shells would have broke, or fel apart even if they were fossils, which there 100% intact, theres another way it would have became a fossil, because if the water covered way higher then mount everest, so there would be alot of preasure from the water, sense the flood covered the whole world, so thats how they became fossils.

Where do you get the idea that the sea shells are 100% intact??? The vast majority of fossils, in fact, are not intact. Hardly what one expects from a fast burying by a global flood.

You are the one who doesn't understand, I'm afraid. The rock is sedimentary or more specially metamorphic sedimentary. That means it formed on the bottom of the ocean, not on top of a mountain. The fossils are inside the rock, because they were in the sediment as it underwent solidification. It was then uplifted over many, many years. We know these processes are real, because we can measure them today.

From his father, of course!

I always say, all we have to do is let you guys post. No need to take any "potshots" at all.

Oh, my.

You must be a General Revelation literalist then, eh?

No wonder scientific methodists leave you alone.

They'd reduce you to saying, "I don't know" so many times; you'd probably end up either making it your User Title, or QVing people to it, or both.

Neither.

User Title -> "Noted strange person"
And I don't recall myself ever QVing to a post stating "I Don't Know"

Ya ... eventually someone will say, "Jesus walked on water," or, "The Flood was global," and there'll go their testimony for Jesus Christ.

Others ... including some that have a Cross in their icons ... will take potshots, hoping to make brownie points with their academic equals.

Luke 23:12 And the same day Pilate and Herod were made friends together: for before they were at enmity between themselves.

Why? If I take a rock with a fossil inside it and raise that rock 20,000 feet, the rock isn't going to just fall apart.

, which there 100% intact, theres another way it would have became a fossil, because if the water covered way higher then mount everest, so there would be alot of preasure from the water, sense the flood covered the whole world, so thats how they became fossils.
Sorry, 22 feet of water pressure is insufficient to create a fossil without the right kind of chemicals (which would not have been present in the water.

Oh really? You realize that the guy in this video ALSO claims that the mountains rose, right? He just thinks it happened EXTREMELY fast at the end of the flood. He says it right there in the video.

No.

I'm pointing out that, if God sorted the fossils after the Flood, He did it decently and in order.

I have no idea what the fossil record looks like on paper; and it looks like you guys are saying it is in some kind of order from simple to complex life forms; as opposed to just helter-skelter all-over-the-place random mixed-up layering.

So whatever it is you guys are seeing underground, I have no problem agreeing with.

Your interpretation of what you're seeing though, is another matter.

So God planted billions of years of geological and biological history that never happened, including multiple mass extinctions, the oxygen catastrophe, fossils that show evolutionary history from earlier to later forms, multiple ice ages and extended patterns of continental drift, volcanic events spread out over millions of years, stars millions and billions of light-years away in many different stages of their life cycles, which are each far far longer than 6000 years, as well as the light of dying stars from more than 6000 light-years away, which would mean those stars never actually existed in the first place?

Deny it all you want, but that's not decent and orderly, that is deceptive. There is no other word for it.

Until I become the Pope, you're more than welcome to consider me a liar.

Pope AV... now that's a scary thought! ^_^

Nice baiting.

Someone mentions fossils ... then when I address it, it's like opening up science's Pandora box.

Lazarus and the Rich Man - Here a little, there a little - Commentary

The Pharisees/Popes, who were "lovers of money" (Luke 16:14), realized that the Messiah was alluding to them with this parable and took offense.
