  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Evolution False? Absolute proof inside.

Just when you think you have seen it all................

Yep...

Do these people live in a box...? I mean, all of these tired 'arguments' have been trashed sooooo many times over, yet they continue to trot them out as 'breaking news'.....

Hmmmm, this reminds me of Ray Comfort and the Atheists Nightmare (The banana)

You'd think the guy would have looked up bananas before trying to present them as evidence of intelligent design by a deity. I can imagine the look on his face when he was finally told the modern, yellow banana was human developed and not natural.

Pretty much. It is one of those arguments that seems to decimate an old earth and evolution among those who are ignorant of the actual science.

Whenever you hear someone claim that dinosaur bones are carbon dated, just stop, close the tab on your browser, and file them under people who don't understand how fossils are dated.

Something tells me, it didn't bother Ray too much.

Surely, then, it's evidence for intelligent design? :p

The term you are looking for is "evidence".
No, it's not.

I said proof.
Define "prove" --- since you guys are always saying "proof is for alcohol and mathematics."
I'm curious, Steezie. What is "absolute irrefutable proof" in the eyes of a scientist?

Is that what "scientists" demand of Christians, but then when Christians demand if of them, they say, "Proof is for alcohol and mathematics"?

That kind of "absolute irrefutable proof"?
Science doesn't have 'proof'. Proof is for math and alcohol only. Nothing in science is 100% proven and nothing ever can be. That's how we can determine if it's right or wrong, and if it can be wrong, how.

The only people besides mathematicians and brewers who think they have proof are creationists.

Of course 'thinking' and actually having proof are two separate things.

One major problem with the whole seashells on mountains thing, that creationists never seem to point out: They aren't found all scattered around randomly as you would expect if they were deposited there by a violent flood, but are found arranged in the same kind of patterns that living sea creatures are found in today, including burrows and surface tracks that you find in healthy underwater ecosystems.

I could have been much more thorough, but honestly it's mostly just a bunch of PRATTs, and not worth the time. A few things I wanted to comment on, though:

4:35--If your grandfather's dog died 50 years ago and you dig it up, are you going to find soft tissue? "No! It would all be decayed"

Yet he just got done talking about finding dinosaur soft tissue that is supposedly thousands (by YEC reckoning) of years old.

Inconsistent, much?

5:30--oooh, very convincing. A strawman puzzle analogy.

6:10--"the evidence from the rock layers say they were laid down rapidly"

That's just a straight "untruth." I hesitate to say lie, but only because I don't know his belief of the statement. Regardless, it is absolutely false.

10:00--Finding radiocarbon in dinosaur bones and coal...first of all, we SOMETIMES find trace amounts, but usually NONE. But even these trace amounts correspond to an age of more than 50,000 years, FAR more than the YEC timeline. If the earth was only 6000 years old, we should find MUCH more carbon than we do, and we should find it in ALL fossils. So the question creationists need to answer is, why do we find ANY fossils with no carbon in it? Based on your timeline, ALL fossils should have at least half its carbon left.

11:38--"All those creatures have been found in the same layer of rocks."

Bovine excrement. THAT is awfully hard to not call a lie.

12:00--More Christians believe in evolution than in YEC, so why have they "got to pretend" so as not admit that God created the animals? There is no God-denying motivation behind evolution as tens of thousands of Christian scientists (as well as many other god-believing religions) will attest.

14:42--how much you want to bet that if you search google scholar for Gastric-brooding frog evolution, you can find an explanation for it?

18:50--there are several current topics on the grand canyon in this forum which you can read to show how silly his arguments are, but some highlights:

--a flood cannot rapidly carve incised meanders
--such massive tectonic activity would create so much heat and energy and tsunami activity, Noah could not survive
--the Channeled Scablands in Washington do not look anything like the Grand Canyon. In fact, it's excellent evidence that the GC was NOT formed rapidly.
I wonder why he doesn't talk about the radiometric dates of the layers formed in WA state? Hmm.

20:00--what he doesn't tell you is that there are many flood stories that PRE-DATE the Old Testament.

21:30--Why just seashells? Where are the sharks? Fish? Whales? crabs? Lobsters? starfish? Other things killed in the flood?

22:10--When have there ever NOT been scoffers? You do remember the Biblical stories of how Jesus was treated, right? EVERY SINGLE RELIGION in history could make this same "prophecy." Of course there are going to be people who don't believe you. In fact, it's Cult Leader 101--a controlling technique, used to make followers believe that they have the truth, and others will be jealous and skeptical, and yet, inferior.

23:00--People have been claiming to have found the ark for 60+ years. Still nada. Good luck with that.

25:29: "They stand no chance of believing the credibility of the Bible."

I would say that says more about the credibility of the Bible than it does anything else. If it was credible, free thinking individuals would always have a chance to believe it...
