  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

We have the Bible which is man's word versus the facts found in the real world.
You are in no position to declare an invisible God did not write it. As for your facts that all agree with me, only your willful coloring of said facts trying and failing to oppose the Almighty.

I still have no clue on what point he tries to make with this, and he is making this "point" for quite some time now. Science got things wrong in the past, therefore ... I have no clue what exactly. People have at times tried to make him flesh out his "argument" to make some kind of coherent point. That is usually the time he abandons the thread.

I will note he makes this point on an internet forum though.

About all that I can get out of his rant is that sometimes professional scientists fail to utilize the scientific method. (Hey, Christians sometimes fail to behave like Christ! Film at 11!)

I think it is just another aspect of AV16's parody of a Christian stereotype. (Speaking personally as a Christian myself, I find his little act very insulting to ALL of us who worship Jesus Christ as the Son of God. And only the most clueless of our brethren idolize the KJV like he portrays. I knew he had to be doing a parody when he posted his proof that the KJV correctly translated a word was that the KJV-based Strong's Concordance of the KJV said so! The ultimate circular reasoning.)

Well, and sometimes "science" gets the wrong answer. Of course, if that happens, we notice this and correct it.

And this kind of goes against the point AV apparently is trying to make. We know when science doesn't give the right answer if the results are contrary to what we would expect on the basis of science. That's the whole point.

I'm not sure whether he is doing a parody...

I'm not sure whether he is doing a parody...

He is certainly going far out of his way to be outrageous and ridiculous.

For example, I really doubt he is stupid enough to think that Noah's Flood waters ended up on Neptune. Nor does he really think that Noah lived in New Jersey because of "pitch pines." [He knows that there were and are plenty of pitch sources in Asia.]

And I don't think any reader believes that AV16 truly believes that Adam and Eve spoke Elizabethan English and that English is somehow the language of heaven. If that is not a parody, I don't know what is.

He shanghai's every thread by posting the most bizarre nonsense he can come up with. He wants people to think that Christians are absurd and blind to reason.

I assume AV16 has some sort of bitterness against Christians because of something in his background. Perhaps he was raised in a very oppressive fundamentalist home. Clearly, he wants people to think that a rational person can't take the Bible seriously. And I certainly object to that. At some point he realized that he could do a lot more damage to the Bible by portraying a ranting, incoherent KJV-only stereotype. (He goes WAY PAST what any sane KJV-fan would ever claim.)

I'm sure they don't either.

They know what I really said, and it wasn't Elizabethan English.

If you're going to ridicule me, please do it correctly -- it's Jacobean English, not Elizabethan.

You are in no position to declare and invisible Harvey the Rabbit did not write it.
You rabbit friend did not fulfill hundreds of prophesies, set the calendar, have many witnesses, or rise from the dead. There may or may nor be some rabbit like also ran bad spirit no one knows...or cares. Billions of lives were totally changed and affected by God. The power is undeniable, and it would be best to simply admit not knowing.

That still leaves you in no position to wave away the observes who saw repeated wonders and testified of it. If one was knowledgeable about prophesy, one also would have to admit that more than the mind of man had to be behind His word. People do not get to run around in denialism thousands of years after the trusted and known witnesses died, pretending that nothing is real.
What facts agree with you?
All facts.

Um, yeah it does. People lie. Writing something down does not make it true.

If one was knowledgeable about prophesy, one also would have to admit that more than the mind of man had to be behind His word.

The prophesies are so vague that the only thing behind it is a vivid imagination.

Where did you prove that?
Where did you prove that Passover happened 3000 years ago? Can you prove Julius Caesar ever had gas? The gospel records were not denied when they (tried to) set the year by them, now were they? The Holy Roman empire never questioned whether Jesus was what He was did they? To try and pretend that the long dead people ought to be here testifying, while ignoring the facts of history, and lives given to validate the truth of the gospel, is simply a demonic waste of time.

Not true. They are specific...what town He was born, etc. Just as they are of His return soon. His feet will land on the mount of Olives...etc etc.

Usually such a claim is followed by a very specific prophesy that was specifically fulfilled in a way that can only be explained by the supernatural.

Amen.

It is very unbiblical for followers of Jesus to complain about an arbitrary group as particular sinful when the model of the Apostle Paul was that he was the worst among sinners. .
Nonsense. He was referring to his past, not his life after coming to Christ. He was Gomorrahphobic also obviously, as are all real believers. How about you?

False. People that cannot see the spiritual at all, could see a town, or a virgin. The supernatural stuff requires a bit more to see....like being alive in the spirit.
