Do you see a duck in this cloud? If you say yes, does that mean it is a real duck?

Do you still not understand that "appearance" does not mean "really is"?
It's very easy to prove that this is not a real duck. You do realize your cloud example would apply more with the assumptions made by looking at a fossil than a living system which can be studied in details in real time.
You have only strengthen the case that illusions are something that can be proven to be not real just like a magician can reveal his trick.

By default people doesn't assume the universe and things we witness in the universe is an illusion unless proven otherwise.
Who made you spokesperson for all people?
Most illusions are even created by man which means they are designed.
You have obviously never watched a nature show about animal camouflage and mimicry.
All illusion can be shown to be just that an illusion. Ex: A magician can easily prove his trick was an illusion by revealing how he did it.
Not all illusions are so easily revealed; the surface on which your computer rests is mostly empty space - how would you demonstrate that?
If you want to believe the universe or anything in the universe is an illusion it's impossible to prove to you otherwise.
That is not my belief.
This is hyperskepticism.
You can call it a banana split for all I care.

This is accepted by default in order to do science. It's the belief we are able to know something about the universe outside our minds.
You have obviously never watched a nature show about animal camouflage and mimicry.
"Most" doesn't mean "all".
Not all illusions are so easily revealed; the surface on which your computer rests is mostly empty space - how would you demonstrate that?
This is only a problem to a materialist. Even the scripture hints the universe is created by that which can't be seen.
That is not my belief.

You can call it a banana split for all I care.
Then you seem to agree not to assume something to be an illusion unless proven otherwise.

In these forums, "truth" would appear to be synonymous with "religious opinion".

I would say that science is a methodology for describing reality.

I would say that's not an answer to the question about science being disinterested in the truth.
