Respectfully, you're missing the point. Erecting a barrier to prevent illegal border entry has never been an issue of contention as much as what the barrier should consist of as pertains to what is reasonably sustainable and most effective. This is easily proven by the fact that the congress passed the secure fence act with bipartisan support.
So when you repeat the same Trump statement that 'the border patrol is for a wall', you engage in the same disinformation he does, presenting a false premise that there is a battle over whether or not there should be a barrier and creating a strawman argument.
Examine the President's words. If you do, you will notice that he began by describing the building of a beautiful impenetrable wall all along the southern border. His supporters were in awe as they imagined this great wall to replace the border fence that was built. But the reality is that the wall the President was describing was not even practical, and the President had to be educated as to why the current border fence design was more efficient by the same border patrol experts that the President now claims support from, only through parsing words, as in being for "a wall', or "a barrier of some kind", or "call it whatever you like".
In other words, the President's original vision was shown to be impractical, unnecessary, and a waste of money and resources. Since he is too proud to admit that, he is now willing to shutdown the government claiming the Democrats are against border security, in order to save face with his supporters and keep them believing in a problem he concocted that does not even exist.
No. Sin is a phenomenon occurring in all of mankind on both sides of the border, and it is a spiritual battle that no physical wall can keep out. The mere belief that the bad people are on the other side of the border is a lie that fosters evil thoughts.
