Trump said that his administration is making Medicare and Social Security stronger. The forecast for both programs is worse today than a year ago. The main Medicare trust fund is expected to run out of money three years sooner. The main Social Security trust fund is expected to run out one year sooner.

The Republican tax cut law and lower-than-projected wages accounted for most of the downgrade.

We rate this claim False.

As much as in pains me, I tend to agree medicare and social security are not stronger...even though I should be on both (because of disabilities) but have been, for lack of another phrase, screwed over by the "justice" system. Learned a few things but hardly worth all the years of, money, time, piles of paperwork, etc. etc. just trying to get a little help. It would not have been much help, but a little help would certainly be better than none! So I'll have to learn how to manage, figure something else out. My parents are living on social security, and I hear more complaints than praises about it, they're on a tight budget, tighter than when they were working, which wasn't spectacular but decent. In recent years they have done much downsizing and selling of things they held onto for years and years. By those indications, they were preparing for living on a tighter budget, preciously because social security ain't strong or much security.
