  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hi SF,

How can you desolate something that no longer has value. When WE are the temple of God.?

2 Thess 2:3-4
3
Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

4
Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

KJV

Yes, it will be an unholy Temple. This will fulfill Mat 24:15

There will be "the tabernacles of his palaces" placed at the temple mount. There will be no Temple of God, one that God has indwelled, when the antichrist is here. Paul was referring to Daniel's words:

Daniel 11: 45And he shall plant the tabernacles of his palace between the seas in the glorious holy mountain; yet he shall come to his end, and none shall help him.

HNV:
2Th 2:1Now, brothers, concerning the coming of our Lord Yeshua the Messiah, and our gathering together to him, we ask you
2Th 2:2not to be quickly shaken in your mind, nor yet be troubled, either by spirit, or by word, or by letter as from us, saying that the day of Messiah had come.
2Th 2:3Let no one deceive you in any way. For it will not be, unless the departure comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of destruction,
2Th 2:4he who opposes and exalts himself against all that is called God or that is worshiped; so that he sits as God in the temple of God, setting himself up as God.
2Th 2:5Don't you remember that, when I was still with you, I told you these things?
2Th 2:6Now you know what is restraining him, to the end that he may be revealed in his own season.

TEll me, chalkstc, did Jesus say he was referring to the abomination of desolation as spoken of in Maccabees or the "abomination of desolation as spoken of in Daniel"?

Why are you confusing the issue?

Point of disagreement.................
You say the AOD was fulfilled in 70 AD
I say it is still future when the mos sits in the future unholy Temple.

You say that Rome was the AOD
I say they do not fulfill the definition of what an AOD is per 1 Macc.

Jesus does refer us to Daniel. But that prophecy is still unfulfilled until the time of the end.
You have it already fulfilled 2000 yrs ago.

NOT!

CW,

Below are most of the DOL texts. As you should see, they happen at the SC on the last day. After the just are delivered, and the wicked are judged, He sets up the mill and His day continues......................

Day of the Lord - References

Isa 2:12 For the day of the Lord of hosts shall be upon every one that is proud and lofty, and upon every one that is lifted up; and he shall be brought low:
KJV

Isa 13:6 Howl ye; for the day of the Lord is at hand; it shall come as a destruction from the Almighty.
7 Therefore shall all hands be faint, and every man's heart shall melt:
8 And they shall be afraid: pangs and sorrows shall take hold of them; they shall be in pain as a woman that travaileth: they shall be amazed one at another; their faces shall be as flames.
9 Behold, the day of the Lord cometh, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate: and he shall destroy the sinners thereof out of it.
KJV

Isa 34:4 And all the host of heaven shall be dissolved, and the heavens shall be rolled together as a scroll: and all their host shall fall down, as the leaf falleth off from the vine, and as a falling fig from the fig tree.
5 For my sword shall be bathed in heaven: behold, it shall come down upon Idumea, and upon the people of my curse, to judgment.
6 The sword of the Lord is filled with blood, it is made fat with fatness, and with the blood of lambs and goats, with the fat of the kidneys of rams: for the Lord hath a sacrifice in Bozrah, and a great slaughter in the land of Idumea.
7 And the unicorns shall come down with them, and the bullocks with the bulls; and their land shall be soaked with blood, and their dust made fat with fatness.
8 For it is the day of the Lord's vengeance, and the year of recompences for the controversy of Zion.
9 And the streams thereof shall be turned into pitch, and the dust thereof into brimstone, and the land thereof shall become burning pitch.
10 It shall not be quenched night nor day; the smoke thereof shall go up for ever: from generation to generation it shall lie waste; none shall pass through it for ever and ever.
KJV

Isa 61:2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;
KJV

Isa 63:4 For the day of vengeance is in mine heart, and the year of my redeemed is come.
KJV

Jeremiah 46:10 For this is the day of the Lord God of hosts, a day of vengeance, that he may avenge him of his adversaries: and the sword shall devour, and it shall be satiate and made drunk with their blood: for the Lord God of hosts hath a sacrifice in the north country by the river Euphrates.
KJV

Ezek 13:5 Ye have not gone up into the gaps, neither made up the hedge for the house of Israel to stand in the battle in the day of the Lord.
KJV

Ezek 30:3 For the day is near, even the day of the Lord is near, a cloudy day; it shall be the time of the heathen.
KJV

Joel 1:15 Alas for the day! for the day of the Lord is at hand, and as a destruction from the Almighty shall it come.
KJV

Amos 5:18 Woe unto you that desire the day of the Lord! to what end is it for you? the day of the Lord is darkness, and not light.
19 As if a man did flee from a lion, and a bear met him; or went into the house, and leaned his hand on the wall, and a serpent bit him.
20 Shall not the day of the Lord be darkness, and not light? even very dark, and no brightness in it?
KJV

Obad 15 For the day of the Lord is near upon all the heathen: as thou hast done, it shall be done unto thee: thy reward shall return upon thine own head.
KJV

Zep 1:14 The great day of the Lord is near, it is near, and hasteth greatly, even the voice of the day of the Lord: the mighty man shall cry there bitterly.
KJV

Zep 2:1 Gather yourselves together, yea, gather together, O nation not desired;
2 Before the decree bring forth, before the day pass as the chaff, before the fierce anger of the Lord come upon you, before the day of the Lord's anger come upon you.

KJV

2 Cor 1:14 As also ye have acknowledged us in part, that we are your rejoicing, even as ye also are ours in the day of the Lord Jesus.
KJV

Phil 1:6 Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:
KJV

Phil 1:10 That ye may approve things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ;
KJV

Phil 2:16 Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.
KJV

1 Thess 5:2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.
KJV

2 Pe 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,
12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?

What does THIS say:

Danie l11: 31And arms shall stand on his part, and they shall pollute the sanctuary of strength, and shall take away the daily sacrifice, and they shall place the abomination that maketh desolate.
32And such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he corrupt by flatteries: but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits.
33And they that understand among the people shall instruct many: yet they shall fall by the sword, and by flame, by captivity, and by spoil, many days.
34Now when they shall fall, they shall be holpen with a little help: but many shall cleave to them with flatteries. 35And some of them of understanding shall fall, to try them, and to purge, and to make them white, even to the time of the end: because it is yet for a time appointed.

Does that say the abomination of desolation and subsequent tribulation (captivity, sword, spoil, flame) occur at the time of the end or before it?

1 Cor 15:25For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet. 26The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.

Death is the last enemy Christ destroys at that happens at the end of the millenium:

REv 20:14And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

Wherever there is a description of the Day of the Lord, it could be describing the beginning 24-hour day, or the day when he comes on the clouds, or the entire 1000 year day. It depends on the context.

Yes exactly. Although we disagree about the rapture, I totally agree with you on this point.

There is no way around that. Daniel sais the sanctuary of strength. Not an unholy temple.

And Jesus said 'the AOD spoken of by Daniel' while He was sitting right there and the disciples were asking about it.

That one is just plain and simple and the more i look at it the more it had to be 70AD so they would have seen it happen.

Yes, but notice this point too...Daniel 11 says the tribulation (captivity, spoil, sword, flame) happens "EVEN to the time of the end". That's how long it lasts!

Luke 21 confirms it (as does Matt 24).

20And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh.
21Then let them which are in Judaea flee to the mountains; and let them which are in the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the countries enter thereinto.
22For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.
23But woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck, in those days! for there shall be great distress in the land, and wrath upon this people. 24And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.

Hosea 6 shows that Israel is revived after two days, restored on the 3rd. Since one day is as 1000 years, their desolation was to last 2000 years.

Hosea 6

1Come, and let us return unto the LORD: for he hath torn, and he will heal us; he hath smitten, and he will bind us up. 2After two days will he revive us: in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight.

The rapture is not mentioned in Daniel 11. The "temple" in which the antichrist stands after the great tribulation is cut short for the sake of the elect is some sort of palaces on the temple mount:

45And he shall plant the tabernacles of his palace between the seas in the glorious holy mountain; yet he shall come to his end, and none shall help him.

We could speculate...could be the Islamic mahdi dwelling in the Dome of the Rock, could be a Jewish temple of sorts built by the freemasons at the Temple mount. We just don't know yet.

What you and Lovey are missing is a small term "then" (Grk tote). It means at the same time. Thus Jesus speaks of the AOD and then says "then",,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Matt 24:15
When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)

16
Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:

17
Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house:

18
Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes.

19
And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!

20
But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day:

21
For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.

KJV

Now if you are correct, the GT is long past along with the SC and the gathering of the elect. But the whole book of Rev is about this 3 1/2 yr or 1260 day. or 42 month or time, times and 1/2 a time period...............period.

Are you thus aslo saying the Revelation has happened also? That is preterist to the max.

Timing is important in interpreting prophecy. If you mess up in vs 15, your whole timeline is skewed.

NO!

THe great tribulation is CUT SHORT before the antichrist, false prophet and false miracles arise.

The great tribulation is everything that Israel (and the world) has been through during the last 2000 years. Daniel 11 proved to you that it began with the desolation of Israel and continues "even to the time of the end".

The antichrist is NOT HERE during the great tribulation that has lasted since the desolation of Israel. The antichrist is here during the TIME OF WRATH on the DAY OF THE LORD.

Daniel 11:

Abomination of Desolation - 70AD:

31 “His armed forces will rise up to desecrate the temple fortress and will abolish the daily sacrifice. Then they will set up the abomination that causes desolation. 32 With flattery he will corrupt those who have violated the covenant, but the people who know their God will firmly resist him.

GREAT TRIBULATION 70AD until the time of the end:

33 “Those who are wise will instruct many, though for a time they will fall by the sword or be burned or captured or plundered. 34 When they fall, they will receive a little help, and many who are not sincere will join them. 35 Some of the wise will stumble, so that they may be refined, purified and made spotless until the time of the end, for it will still come at the appointed time.

AntiCHRIST - Time of wrath on the Day of the Lord, after great tribulation cut short for the sake of the elect:

The King Who Exalts Himself

36 “The king will do as he pleases. He will exalt and magnify himself above every god and will say unheard-of things against the God of gods. He will be successful until the time of wrath is completed, for what has been determined must take place. 37 He will show no regard for the gods of his ancestors or for the one desired by women, nor will he regard any god, but will exalt himself above them all. 38 Instead of them, he will honor a god of fortresses; a god unknown to his ancestors he will honor with gold and silver, with precious stones and costly gifts. 39 He will attack the mightiest fortresses with the help of a foreign god and will greatly honor those who acknowledge him. He will make them rulers over many people and will distribute the land at a price.[d]
40 “At the time of the end the king of the South will engage him in battle, and the king of the North will storm out against him with chariots and cavalry and a great fleet of ships. He will invade many countries and sweep through them like a flood. 41 He will also invade the Beautiful Land. Many countries will fall, but Edom, Moab and the leaders of Ammon will be delivered from his hand. 42 He will extend his power over many countries; Egypt will not escape. 43 He will gain control of the treasures of gold and silver and all the riches of Egypt, with the Libyans and Cu[bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse]es[e] in submission. 44 But reports from the east and the north will alarm him, and he will set out in a great rage to destroy and annihilate many. 45 He will pitch his royal tents between the seas at[f] the beautiful holy mountain. Yet he will come to his end, and no one will help him.

Do you believe this last quote from Lovey?

Frankie

Perhaps you misunderstood. Did i stutter?

The great tribulation that began with the abomination of desolation of Israel which occured in 70AD LASTS UNTIL THE TIME OF THE END when it will be cut short, for the sake of the elect, followed by the time of wrath on the Day of the Lord.

Hosea 6 shows Israel is revived after 2 days. Romans 11 shows Israel blinded in part until the fulness of the gentiles be come in. Israel's desolation (great tribulation) lasts 2000 years and is cut short for the sake of the elect.

GREAT TRIBULATION- 70AD until the time of the end:

I am not missing that at all.
THEN is exactly right. Jesus sais look in Daniel it causes a time of desolation and scattering all the way up to the end. Those in Judea DID flea, and have not been back till just 1948 and that is but a handful. Its coincidence that it was 66AD that they revolted?

Notice Jesus starts that whole conversation with what BEGINS the whole thing.
See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.

Then they say "hey tell us" He then continues with take heed and do not be deceived, wars, famines, affliction, false christs, and ends that with the gospel going out to all the world.
Then He reminds them:
When ye THEREFORE shall see the AOD of Daniel ... reiterating the temple being destroyed as the beginning of the most terrible time in all creation.

then Behold, I have told you before.
Then more about false prophets.

The last days are only 2 days in the scheme of things remember? Look at the big picture and widen your view a little.
Jesus died on the cross and all hell broke loose.
Martyrs die every day.

Rev is not past. John sais past, now, and future and starts with letters to the churches in Asia. They are past but still hold relevance like the rest of the bible.
I would say since the Past was before Johns time, what 'IS', was at the time of John, and what is to come is everything ahead of him.
It cannot be all future or Jesus is a liar.

How can the Alpha and Omega be about 42 little months? Think moons Frankie, think Hebrew. That beast gets so horrible and ugly in 3 years?? What world have you been living in? It comes out of the sea with a prominent scar that has everyone wondering after it for generations. What king do you know that died and rose again? Think Israel, the center of all prophecy. Think Nebucadnezzar and Cyrus.
God could care less about our government. He wants our hearts.

The book never sais 'the antichrist' gives it its manifestation it sais false prophet. Sounds like Jack van Impe lol.

Anyway what is preterist? And what is that label business. What are you then a futurist? Lets not do that.
We are at the end of the Pisces age Frankie there is not much future left other than the glorious SC! The bible sais antichrist is already in the world.
Look around you. Widen your view and see the trouble Jesus started two mornings ago. It is the second evening, approaching Midnight. A thief in the NIGHT.

Do you seriously think the Jews of today will be able to build a temple right next to the beloved dome of the rock?? Ancient rebellious Israel is a speck on the map compared to Islam. lol that is not going to happen any time soon. The covenant signing you speak of is long fulfilled. The great battle of Armegeddon is close at hand. Cast a devil out of someone and tell me satan is not among us already.
Have you been watching Jack Van Impe Frankie??

Hosea 6 shows Israel is revived after 2 days.

Hosea 6

2 After two days he will revive us;
on the third day he will restore us,
that we may live in his presence.

1 Corinthians 15
3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

Yes, and how many days wages did the Good Samaritan (symbolic of Jesus) give the Innkeeper (symbolic of the church) to take care of the man (symbolic of mankind) saying "and then I will return and reimburse you for any extra expense". He expected to be gone for two days (2000 years) which is why he gave the Innkeeper two days wages before leaving.

And how many days did Moses consecrate the people before God came down on the morning of the 3rd Day at the sound of a Heavenly trumpet in Exodus 19:10-20?

10And the LORD said unto Moses, Go unto the people, and sanctify them to day and to morrow, and let them wash their clothes,
11And be ready against the third day: for the third day the LORD will come down in the sight of all the people upon mount Sinai.
12And thou shalt set bounds unto the people round about, saying, Take heed to yourselves, that ye go not up into the mount, or touch the border of it: whosoever toucheth the mount shall be surely put to death:
13There shall not an hand touch it, but he shall surely be stoned, or shot through; whether it be beast or man, it shall not live: when the trumpet soundeth long, they shall come up to the mount.
14And Moses went down from the mount unto the people, and sanctified the people; and they washed their clothes.
15And he said unto the people, Be ready against the third day: come not at your wives.
16And it came to pass on the third day in the morning, that there were thunders and lightnings, and a thick cloud upon the mount, and the voice of the trumpet exceeding loud; so that all the people that was in the camp trembled.
17And Moses brought forth the people out of the camp to meet with God; and they stood at the nether part of the mount.
18And mount Sinai was altogether on a smoke, because the LORD descended upon it in fire: and the smoke thereof ascended as the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mount quaked greatly.
19And when the voice of the trumpet sounded long, and waxed louder and louder, Moses spake, and God answered him by a voice. 20And the LORD came down upon mount Sinai, on the top of the mount: and the LORD called Moses up to the top of the mount; and Moses went up.

The two days for Israel's desolation and the two days for the consecration and the two days for Jesus' death ALL point to ONE Truth.

Jesus is coming! It's been 2000 years. Israel has been revived and is about to be restored. The church has washed their robes in the blood of the Lamb for 2000 years.

Rev 7: 9After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands;
10And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb.
11And all the angels stood round about the throne, and about the elders and the four beasts, and fell before the throne on their faces, and worshipped God,
12Saying, Amen: Blessing, and glory, and wisdom, and thanksgiving, and honour, and power, and might, be unto our God for ever and ever. Amen.
13And one of the elders answered, saying unto me, What are these which are arrayed in white robes? and whence came they? 14And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

It's time to go! The great tribulation has lasted 2 days, 2000 years, since the desolation of Israel, and the church has been washing our robes in the blood of the Lamb the entire time!

SF,

Rev 2:22
Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds.

KJV

Now John penned the Revelation in about 96AD................about 26 years after your supposed AOD happening in which you say the GT began. Now if this church was already in it, then why does Jesus say he would cast her into it except she repent?

Must woman's intuition......I mean interpretation :)
And I must confess that it's more fun playing Eschatology with you girls that with the guys :)

Peace and out,
Frankie

Of course it is.:D

Look in that same chapter verse 10
Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast [some] of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.

Now isnt that the same thing Jesus just said would happen when the GT starts? why yes it is.

and how is the devil going to do that if he isnt here??

take heed frankie lest you be decieved(into thinking its something its not)
