Doing good, helping others because you feel God wants you to, but not that u really want to

Hi,

Is it ok to do good, help others, because u feel God wants you to, but you do not really want to, you rather do something else like learn a new skill, make some more money, I mean there is always lots of other stuff to do for urself.
Will the other not get offended if you are only helping them because of God but not that u really want to ? Rather not help or help ?

It is always better to do something good and generous because you want to. However, if you only do so because you know God wants you to - you do no wrong. This is also good too. As you are showing that you are shaping your path and soul according to the wishes of the Creator.

For example, imagine you are a teacher and you leave the classroom and students one day and watch back the cctv footage. Student 1 acts good and kind to everyone naturally. Student 2 does so unnaturally and with difficulty, but you hear him mutter under his breath "I ought to do this because that is what teacher taught me"... When you return to the classroom, would you only reward student 1? Wouldn't you reward both?

Yes, there is what God wants us to do.

Why don't you feel like doing good to a certain person?

Possibly, you need to forgive someone. Jesus wants forgiveness. Jesus even prayed forgiveness to very evil people who were still hating and torturing Jesus on the cross >

"Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do." (in Luke 23:34)

And if you are kind with people while you do things for them, God can use your example to minister to change the person to become a child of God and find out how to love.
