The Chuirch certainly recognizes Peter's importance as Christ's vicar on earth, however, he's CHRIST's vicar.

But we are all Christ's representatives on earth.

"We are ambassadors therefore for Christ, God as it were beseeching by us, we entreat for Christ, Be reconciled to God." 2 Cor 5:20.

There is no instruction from the Bible that says Peter is the sole "vicar" of Christ.

All vicar's have various levels of responsibility.

Read the last chapter of the Gospel according to St. John the Apostle.
You mean this:

"Jesus says to him, If I will that he abide until I come, what is that to thee? Follow thou me. "
Is he the same one that also authored Revelation?

But I don't see any Scripture that Peter was to be above the others.
There's lots of scriptures that show Peter was first in authority among the apostles. Whenever they were named, Peter headed the list (Matt. 10:1-4, Mark 3:16-19, Luke 6:14-16, Acts 1:13); sometimes the apostles were referred to as "Peter and those who were with him" (Luke 9:32). Peter was the one who generally spoke for the apostles (Matt. 18:21, Mark 8:29, Luke 12:41, John 6:68-69), and he figured in many of the most dramatic scenes (Matt. 14:28-32, Matt. 17:24-27, Mark 10:23-28). On Pentecost it was Peter who first preached to the crowds (Acts 2:14-40), and he worked the first healing in the Church age (Acts 3:6-7). It is Peter’s faith that will strengthen his brethren (Luke 22:32) and Peter is given Christ’s flock to shepherd (John 21:17). An angel was sent to announce the resurrection to Peter (Mark 16:7), and the risen Christ first appeared to Peter (Luke 24:34). He headed the meeting that elected Matthias to replace Judas (Acts 1:13-26), and he received the first converts (Acts 2:41). He inflicted the first punishment (Acts 5:1-11), and excommunicated the first heretic (Acts 8:18-23). He led the first council in Jerusalem (Acts 15), and announced the first dogmatic decision (Acts 15:7-11). It was to Peter that the revelation came that Gentiles were to be baptized and accepted as Christians (Acts 10:46-48).

And Peter was called Satan, and denied the Lord 3x, and was proven in the wrong by Paul..... Peter did not lead the council in Jerusalem, James did.

Yes Peter opened the kingdom of heaven to the Jews, (Acts 2) to the Samaritans (Acts 8) and to the Gentiles (Acts 10). That was his special mission and it stopped there: mission accomplished.

There is no shred of evidence that Peter was placed officially over the others.

Yepperz. 1 more than Peter did and the only author to mention the "anti-christ" I believe.

Ya think Peter knew who that was also?

"antichrist" mentioned 4 times in NC:

1 John 2:18, 2:22, 4:3, 2 John 1:7

Who is the one who had the vision of the unclean animals in the Book of the Acts of the Apostles?

Who saw Christ on the road to Damascus?

It doesn't matter. Pete was never given such authority and neither was rome or the pope.

Well, Peter of course. As I said Peter had the special mission to open the kingdom of heaven with they keys given to him. Therefore he used the keys:

1. in Acts 2 to open the kingdom for the Jews
2. in Acts 8 to open the kingdom for the Samaritans
3. in Acts 10 to open the kingdom for the Gentiles

After that there is no longer need for any keys. The kingdom of heaven has been opened to all.

And the Church would just take care of itself. Good point.
