God is a truly loving God, Dad. When you love someone, you don't demand unconditional surrender.
Yes. He sure does. If you love say, your son, and he was wanting to join a gang and mainline heroin, would it be unloving to ask him to do as you wish?

It would be unloving to disown him for not obeying you. When god holds the threat of eternal damnation over your head, and it is for something that isn't even a fully conscious choice, that makes for a very different situation.

Because some posters have been noted over a long period of time for being unwilling to rationally discuss Scripture you are blocked from being able to discuss God's word. While there may be places to vent contempt for Scripture and/or Christians who believe Scripture, and blasphemy etc .. this is not one of those places. Thank you. Happy repenting...
dad, why do you continue to do what you have banned yourself from doing?

I can help you with your inability to understand your own holy book.

No, it certainly would not be unloving, Dad. However, to demand that he go your way would not be loving. A truly loving parent should respect the decisions of their children even if they aren't what the parents want. For example, my one sister-in-law is really bright and I mean bright, IQ off the scale. However, she hated school. We all wanted her to go to college, actually major in music, as she can really sing. She went one semester, spent her time partying, and flunked out. Today, she is happily married and perfectly happy being a housewife and not singing a note. Can't say as I or other family members agreed with her decision, but we respect her right to have so decided. My parents wanted me to become a physician, a "real doctor." I thought about it, really didn't want to, and so went and earned in doctorate in theology. Yes, my parents were disappointed that I am just a Ph.D., not a "real doctor." However, they respected my decisions and even helped considerably finance my education, and were proud of what I did accomplish. They did not force their will on me. That's how truly loving parents act. Actually, speaking of colorful examples, I actually know a family who went up the wall when their one and only daughter, actually their only child, said she wanted to become a professional circus clown. She insisted, they went along, and you know, they were really proud when they saw her perform in a major professional circus. Actually they brag about it now. Again, that's how truly loving parents act.

P.S. Think what would have happened to the Protestant Reformation if Luther's father would have had his way. He insisted Martin go to law school to become an attorney. Luther hated law school. His father went up the wall when Luther said he wanted to become a priest. Nevertheless, his father went along, and well , the rest is all history.

The "beyond-nature" part of culture, could very well be mans means of perceiving the reality of God. Habilis thinks if your question asked: "should the fact of evolution affect human moral systems?" it would go to the heart of what you are asking. Habilis position is: should the fact of gravity influence morals? Neither should evolution, which is also a fact, like gravity. Once evolution is extended into realm of morals, it ceases to be fact and becomes philosophy.

Which is what "facts" are.

He never disowns us. But first we need to be owned! To be His we need to do as He required and believe in Jesus. We must surrender our ideas unconditionally and come to Him and receive His gift.

To believe we go His way. Jesus is that way. Jesus fulfilled Scripture chatted with Prophets like Moses, and affirmed that Scripture is true and from God.

ing a note. Can't say as I or other family members agreed with her decision, but we respect her right to have so decided.

God allows us to make choices. However if they are real bad and hurtful there are consequences.

Making choices is life. Having a God watching over us and ready to correct us as needed is also life.

The issue is not what road we walk down so much as where the heart is at.

I know, I know dad, you are still blaspheming. Don't worry, unlike you I can rationally discuss the Bible. That is why I understand it so much better than you do.

When you are done repenting for all of your sins I can help you.

The fact of creation and the fact of evolution being after that fact remain unchallenged here, while you blather about religious nonsense.

You sort of have that backwards, and once you unblock yourself from discussing the Bible you might be able to understand. Your side was shown to be wrong over 100 years ago. And you really should lay off of the blasphemy. Let me give you one for free. When you worship the Bible as if it were a God you are actually breaking the First Commandment. You need to understand the message of the Bible and you will never be able to do so with your approach.

[QUOTE="Subduction Zone, post: 69372845, member: 321072" Your side was shown to be wrong over 100 years ago. .
Show the reasons why exactly, and see how you do.[/QUOTE]
You need to learn how to quote a bit better.

dad, we would probably have to go through an entire lifetime of science classes for you to be able to understand how your beliefs were shown to be wrong. But perhaps if we start with some of the basics you might be able to get a grasp on this.

So are you ready to learn what is and what is not evidence?

Hot air aside, time for you to show what the poor sods thought they found out 100 years ago and why.
dad, when you are terribly ignorant the proper attitude is to be polite. Rudeness only shows that you know that you are wrong and are not willing to learn. If you don't learn first you will not be able to understand why your side lost so long ago.

You claimed they found out something 100 years ago about the flood or whatever, now you do not deliver a thing. As per usual.
No, I didn't. I said that your side lost the debate over 100 years ago. The flood was refuted even earlier.

But again to understand you need to understand some of the basics. Your education is lacking right now. Explanations would go over your head. I am willing to start you on that. Tell me if you understand this relatively simple video:

Dad, in a serious theological discussion, you can object to anyone and anything you want. However, the rule is that you have to be polite and provide a solid rational, empirical rebuttal. So far, you have done precisely the opposite. All you have done is give the sore-loser defense. You find your position is weak, you really can't give a solid supporting argument, so you dice to get even and save face by casting aspersion on your opponent's character, denouncing them as blasphemers, lost souls , godless, etc. The mere fact alone that you resort to what is called schoolgirl-style writing, all caps, big red letters, etc., suggests a lack of mature literary savvy.

Better watch it. You will be getting colored notices posted to you next. But yes, the simple fact is that dad can't defend his beliefs so he makes false personal attacks on others.
