• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Does morality exist without God?

Look at the relationship between Jacob and his brothers, and later Israel and Egypt.

Loud and clear.

You didn't quote anyone, so I don't know who you are directing that to.

I'm still looking for posts or examples...

Obviously you do not know what it means to "accept Jesus as your Savior." (Not that I can fault you for that)
Me accepting Jesus as my savior does not mean me condoning genocide, torture, and fraud, just because such acts were done in Jesus' name or these individuals later also accepted Jesus as their savior. Why should I give up my autonomy for someone else's thought processes? Ever?

Your inability to quote someone who you are responding to is not my responsibility.

That's not "math", by the way...

Not really a red herring. Why should I accept Jesus as my savior just to be in such esteemed company as the likes of what I just listed? Especially when the consensus seemed to be that Hell wasn't actually all that bad.

MOD HAT ON

Folks this thread is becoming a General Apologetics topic rather than its original intent of focusing on the morality aspect - keep it focused on the intent of the forum, to discuss ethics & morality. If the thread continues to the GA road, it will have to be closed.

Sticky: Reminder: THIS IS NOT GENERAL APOLOGETICS

how dare people support sexual immorality

We don't. We are just as much against sexual immorality as you are. We simply differ as to the specifics of what is moral or immoral with regards to sex.

What falls under "sexual immortality"?

An eternal [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse] with Aphrodite?

what was the tree of knowledge of good and evil?

evil n good existed before adam n eve

hm hm

Of course morality exists with or without god. Morality is a man made concept, and while a persons faith can inspire a person's morality, a person's general upbringing (including faith) is the main influence.

a person with good relationships and positive people around them is more likely to have a greater respect for life. having respect for life means a person is more inclined to feel empathy and compassion, regardless of faith or lack-there-of.

There is no doubt that there are some troubled people who do terrible things, and these people live in all aspects of faith or non-faith.

i've lived my entire life as a skeptic, agnostic and athiest. i pride myself on living a good life and abiding not only by state laws, but by my own set of morals that i've developed on my own.
