Why's it gotta be Satan necessarily? Maybe you're just wrong about who God is and what he stands for? It always bothers me that not being of the Christian God makes you automaticall of Satan, with no middle ground, no "screw both those guys" option. Why is that?

This always bothered me in some sense, particularly the first principle. The second has some sense in that when you transgress a law, you should realize that you did wrong in some sense, that never really bothered me.

It's this all-or-nothing attitude about sin in relation to the law that God apparently ordained. Asking for perfection and then giving only one option for it with little to no variation whatsoever is like expecting humanity to roll seven a hundred times in a row in order to win a game of craps or you die.

I'll bet we all feel that we can be better than we are. Some more than others. No gods needed.

Another problem I have (not that you seem to be confronting me on these problems, but instead are just asserting your position as right instinctively) is this notion that we are born with some sort of curse. But I try to view life as a blessing in that we are alive. Even if we are imperfect and die, that doesn't mean we were meant to live forever and be perfect morally. We all develop at our own pace.

This seems to clash with the Christian notion that you have a conscience from God and a soul. If anything, you're trying to critique what you view as "New Age" thinking, it appears, but are unknowingly or unwittingly criticizing much of Christian thought in the same breath.

True, views on proper behavior do change over time. The sort of dress considered appropriate for women has changed over the centuries, and has varied from culture to culture.

Also, slavery was once considered proper, and now it is not. Views do change.

Some change is probably rather arbitrary and culture-specific, such as whether or not women should cover their ankles. Some change happens for good reasons, as in the case of slavery. One can't simply assume that change is bad. Some change is an improvement.
