Hold your horses LGW, I do not recognize that translation. Colossians 2:16 (Net Bible)
Therefore do not let anyone judge you with respect to food or drink, or in the matter of a feast, new moon, or Sabbath days.
Colossians 2:16 (New American Standard Bible)
Therefore no one is to act as your judge in regard to food or drink or in respect to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath day.
Colossians 2:16 (English Standard Version)
Therefore let no one pass judgment on you in questions of food and drink, or with regard to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath.
Colossians 2:16 (New International Version)
Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day.

Hmm which version should we believe? I think it should be the version that agrees with the rest of God's WORD don't you?

King James Bible
Let no man therefore judge you in MEAT OR IN DRINK, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:

American King James Version
Let no man therefore judge you in MEAT OR IN DRINK, or in respect of an holy day, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:

American Standard Version
Let no man therefore judge you in MEAT OR IN DRINK, or in respect of a feast day or a new moon or a sabbath day:

Douay-Rheims Bible
Let no man therefore judge you in MEAT OR IN DRINK, or in respect of a festival day, or of the new moon, or of the sabbaths,

Darby Bible Translation
Let none therefore judge you in MEAT OR IN DRINK, or in matter of feast, or new moon, or sabbaths,

English Revised Version
Let no man therefore judge you in MEAT OR IN DRINK, or in respect of a feast day or a new moon or a sabbath day:

COLOSSIANS 2:16 [16], Let no man therefore judge you in MEAT, OR IN DRINK or in respect of an FEASTS, or of the NEW MOONS, or of the sabbath days

It is very clear what PAUL is quoting from here the correct translations as can be shown here...

.................

EZEKIEL 45:17 [17] And it shall be the prince's part to give BURNT OFFERINGS, and MEAT OFFERINGS, and DRINK OFFERINGS, in the FEASTS, and in the NEW MOONS, and in the SABBATHS, in all solemnities of the house of Israel: he shall prepare the sin offering, and the meat offering, and the burnt offering, and the peace offerings, to make reconciliation for the house of Israel.

.................

LEVITICUS 23:4 [4] These are THE FEASTS OF THE LORD, even holy convocations, which ye shall proclaim in their seasons. [5] In the fourteenth day of the first month at even is THE LORD'S PASSOVER. [6] And on the fifteenth day of the same month is the feast of unleavened bread unto the Lord: seven days ye must eat unleavened bread…… [13] And the MEAT OFFERING thereof shall be two tenth deals of fine flour mingled with oil, an offering made by fire unto the Lord for a sweet savour: and the DRINK OFFERING thereof shall be of wine, the fourth part of an hin.

NUMBERS 28 [9] And on the Sabbath day two lambs of the first year without spot, and two tenth deals of flour for a MEAT OFFERING, mingled with oil, and the DRINK OFFERING thereof: [10] This is the burnt offering of EVERY SABBATH, beside the continual BURN'T OFFERING, and his DRINK OFFERING.

ISAIAH 1:10-14 [10] Hear the word of the LORD, ye rulers of Sodom; give ear unto the law of our God, ye people of Gomorrah.[11] To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices unto me? saith the LORD: I AM FULL OF THE BURNT OFFERINGS of rams, and the fat of fed beasts; and I delight not in the blood of bullocks, or of lambs, or of he goats.[12] When ye come to appear before me, who hath required this at your hand, to tread my courts?[13] BRING NO MORE VAIN OBLATIONS; incense is an abomination unto me; THE NEW MOONS AND SABBATHS, the calling of assemblies, I cannot away with; it is iniquity, even the solemn meeting.[14] Your NEW MOONS and your APPOINTED FEASTS my soul hateth: they are a trouble unto me; I am weary to bear them.

LEVITICUS 23:13 "And its MEAT OFFERING shall be two tenth deals of fine flour mingled with oil, ... and its drink offering shall be of wine, the fourth part of an hin."

LEVITICUS 23:18 "And you shall offer with the bread seven lambs ... with their MEAT OFFERING, and their DRINK OFFERING."

LEVITICUS 23:37 "a their MEAT OFFERING, a sacrifice, and DRINK OFFERING, every thing upon his day."

NUMBERS 6:15 "and their their MEAT OFFERING, and their DRINK OFFERING."

NUMBERS 6:17 "the priest shall offer also his their MEAT OFFERING, and his drink offering."

NUMBERS 15:4-5 "bring a their MEAT OFFERING of a tenth deal of flour mingled with the fourth part of an hin of oil. And the fourth part of an hin of wine for a DRINK OFFERING "

NUMBERS 15:6 "Or for a ram, you shall prepare for a their MEAT OFFERING two tenth deals of flour mingled with the third part of an hin of oil."

NUMBERS 15:7 "And for a DRINK OFFERING you shall offer the third part of an hin of wine."

NUMBERS 15:9 "Then shall he bring with a bullock a their MEAT OFFERING"

NUMBERS 15:10 "And you shall bring for a DRINK OFFERING half an hin of wine, ""

NUMBERS 15:24 "with his their MEAT OFFERING, and his DRINK OFFERING."

NUMBERS 28:5 "And a tenth part of an ephah of flour for a MEAT OFFERING, mingled with the fourth part of an hin of beaten oil."

NUMBERS 28:7-8 "And its drink offering shall be the fourth part of an hin for the one lamb: in the holy place you shall cause the strong wine to be poured to the LORD for a DRINK OFFERING." And the other lamb you shall offer at even: as the their MEAT OFFERING of the morning, and as its drink offering, ..."

Yep I think God is pretty tired of the old MEAT an d DRINK offerings. NEW MOONS, and sabbaths connected to FEAST days don't you? The correct versions are the ones that match with the rest of the scriptures brother. It is pretty clear that PAUL in COLOSSIANS 2:16 is referring to EZEKIEL 45:17 which is word for word. KJV has God's WORD agreeing with God's WORD. Your versions do not agree with the scriptures Paul is quoting from.
Is it ''food" or is it "meat"? Let's see which translation is correct. what you eat βρώσει (brōsei) Noun - Dative Feminine Singular Strong's Greek 1035: (a) abstr: eating, (b) food, a meal, (c) rust. From the base of bibrosko; eating; by extension food. Strongs says it's eating, by extension food. So where do you get 'meat' from?
This has already been addressed in a previous post to you. These scriptures make it clear that often when the words "meat" and "drink" come together (KJV), they are referring to the Old Testament offerings. The same Hebrew word (Hb, מִנְחָה , Htr. minchah) is used to translate the two words "meat offering" in all of these scriptures, and it is obvious from the ingredients of flour and oil that it is a "food or grain offering" rather than a "meat offering". This is confirmed by its use elsewhere in scripture, for example:

GENESIS 4:3 "Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering to the LORD."

Greek word brosis translated "meat" (Colossians 2:16) (Gr. βρώσει, Gtr. brosei) is the dative case of "brosis", a noun which translated as meat but the Greek word can also mean food. The direct meaning is from the base of G977; (abstractly) eating (literally or figuratively); by extension (concretely) food (literally or figuratively): - eating, food, meat.

This has been correctly translated as meat in some versions which is also the Greek word meaning of brosis and correctly lines up with the...

Hebrew
MEAT OFFERINGS, וְהַמִּנְחָה֮ (wə·ham·min·ḥāh) Conjunctive waw, Article | Noun - feminine singular Strong's Hebrew 4503: 1) gift, tribute, offering, present, oblation, sacrifice, meat offering 1a) gift, present 1b) tribute 1c) offering (to God) 1d) grain offering and the

Hebrew
for DRINK OFFERING; וְהַנֵּסֶךְ֒ (wə·han·nê·seḵ) Conjunctive waw, Article | Noun - masculine singular Strong's Hebrew 5262: 1) drink offering, libation, molten image, something poured out 1a) drink offering 1b) molten images

Brother can you see that both the HEBREW and the GREEK word meaning match up exactly with the OLD and NEW TESTAMENT scriptures in COLOSSIANS 2:16 and EZEKIEL 45:17 and the other scriptures already posted? It is your translations that is erroneous as they do not align with God's WORD in both the OLD and NEW TESTAMENT and especially the within scripture and chapter CONTEXT of COLOSSIANS 2 and do not align with what Paul is referencing in the OLD TESTAMENT scriptures.

Sorry brother God's WORD disagree with you.

Even if it was correct this has no bearing on Colossians 2:16.

Everything that we have in the NEW TESTAMENT scriptures come from the OLD TESTAMENT scriptures. In the days of JESUS and the APOSLTES their bible was the OLD TESTAMENT scriptures that pointed to JESUS and God's plan of salvation in the NEW COVENANT. It is very clear here looking at the within CHAPTER and SCRIPTURE CONTEXT here click me, as well as the MEAT and DRINK offerings all through the OLD TESTAMENT scriptures here click me and shown above already that PAUL is referring to the OLD TESTAMENT shadow laws of MEAT and DRINK offerings; annual FEASTS; NEW MOONS and sabbaths. The comparison of COLOSSIANS 2:16 with EZEKIEL 45:17 is nearly a word for word scripture comparison. If we do not even include any of the other supporting scriptures provided it is quite apparent to those who are honest of heart that PAUL is referencing the OLD COVENANT scriptures in relation to the withing scripture and chapter CONTEXT of the SHADOW laws of COLOSSIANS 2.

COLOSSIANS 2:16 [16], Let no man therefore judge you in MEAT, OR IN DRINK or in respect of FEASTS, or of the NEW MOON, or of the SABBATH DAYS

That is the Passover ritual and the feast of unleavened bread, what has that got to do with anything?

It has everthing to do with what has been posted. It shows that the shadow sabbaths, new moons, meat and drink offerings were connected to the feast days all of which are discussed in the single scripture you twist and misinterpret in...

So why do you celebrate the Sabbath?

Because I LOVE JESUS *JOHN 14:15; and it is one of God's 10 Commandments that give us the KNOWLEDGE of GOOD and EVIL; SIN and RIGHTEOUSNESS *EXODUS 20:8-11; ROMANS 3:20; ROMANS 7:7; 1 JOHN 3:4; PSALMS 119:172.

All those who CONTINUE in KNOWN UNREPENTANT SIN will not enter into the KINGDOM of HEAVEN *HEBREWS 10:26-27 because they reject the gift of God's dear son *ROMANS 6:23. OBEDIENCE to God's LAW is not how we are saved it is the FRUIT of God's work in us as we BELIEVE and FOLLOW his WORD. If our faith has no fruit it is dead *JAMES 2:18-20; 26 and our tree will be cast down and thrown into the fire *MATTHEW 3:10; 7:19-20; 13:49-50. We are saved by GRACE through faith and not of ourselves it is a gift of God *EPHESIANS 2:8. We are all sick with sin and need a Physician *MATTHEW 9:12-13. JESUS says arise take up your bed and walk. I believe him. How about you?

God's 4th commandment is one of God's 10 commandments that give us the KNOWLEDGE of GOOD and EVIL; SIN and RIGHTEOUSNESS *ROMANS 3:20; ROMANS 7:7; 1 JOHN 3:4; PSALMS 119:172. According to God's WORD, ALL those who CONTINUE in KNOWN UNREPENTANT SIN will not enter into the KINGDOM of HEAVEN *HEBREWS 10:26-27 because they reject the gift of God's dear son *ROMANS 6:23.

God's 4th commandment is one of the ten (Exodus 20:8-11) If we knowingly break it when God asks us not to we stand guilty before God of committing sin (James 2:8-12). If we do not seek him in repentance and forgiveness we are in danger of the Judgement (Hebrews 10:26-27)

Sunday worship is a tradition and teaching of man that has led many to UNKNOWINGLY break the commandments of God. Jesus says that if we follow the traditions of man that break the commandments of God we are not following God (Matthew 15:3-9)

There is not one scripture in all of God's Word that says that God's 4th Commandment is now ABOLISHED and we are now commanded to KEEP Sunday as a Holy day. Who should we follow the teachings and traditions of men or the Word of God? Who should we believe the Words of men or the Word of God?

In times of ignorance God winks at but now, <when a KNOWLEDGE of the truth has come> calls all men everywhere to REPENT (FOLLOW) (Acts 17:30-31).

Hope this helps

It is not a case of the scripture disagreeing with me. It is because you are using a faulty translation. This has nothing to do with personal integrity, it is all about an accurate translation.

To you it's clear what Paul is quoting from if you use a select translation of the scripture, that is or follows the tradition of the King James version translation. If you forget tradition and simply translate the Hebrew and the Greek you get a modern translation, a more accurate translation.

If you use a modern translation the reading is different to yours.

For example LGW, you quoted Ezekiel 45:17 which has 'meat offerings'. In a modern and more accurate translation it will have 'grain offering'. I don't know about you but to me there is a marked difference between meat and grain!

Ezekiel 45:17 (Net Bible)
It will be the duty of the prince to provide the burnt offerings, the grain offering, and the drink offering at festivals, on the new moons and Sabbaths, at all the appointed feasts of the house of Israel; he will provide the sin offering, the grain offering, the burnt offering, and the peace offerings to make atonement for the house of Israel.

So when Paul states 'food and drink' in Colossians 2:16, Paul is not necessarily referring to Ezekiel 45:17.

I have already demonstrated that the Koine Greek in the verse (Colossians 2:16) says 'food and drink', and not 'meat and drink'.

The translation of Colossians 2:16 is one of the critical verses for the SDA folk. If they translate this verse incorrectly everything collapses.

Even Young's literal translation states 'eating and drinking'.

Translate accurately LGW.

Hi David. You had it right the first time. As shown in the scriptures through the previous posts God's WORD disagrees with you.

To you it's clear what Paul is quoting from if you use a select translation of the scripture, that is or follows the tradition of the King James version translation.
Not at all. As shown through the scriptures in the earlier posts to you the KJV and other translations for MEAT (Food) and Drinks is the correct translations and have their ORIGIN and to the scriptures PAUL is referring to in the OLD TESTAMENT scriptures which are in relation to the MEAT and DRINK offerings; NEW MOONS, FEASTS and ceremonial sabbaths of the ANNUAL Festivals from the Shadow laws of the MOSAIC BOOK of the OLD COVENANT *EXODUS 24:7. Your translation is shown to be inaccurate as it does not show the connections to the OLD TESTAMENT and COVENANT scriptures PAUL is referring to.

Hope this helps.

Not at all David. You were shown in the earlier posts the GREEK and HEBREW words meanings are also tranlated as MEAT and DRINK as it is correctly trandlated in the KJV and multiple other bible tranlsations.

Greek word brosis translated "meat" (Colossians 2:16) (Gr. βρώσει, Gtr. brosei) is the dative case of "brosis", a noun which translated as meat but the Greek word can also mean food. Brother you can see that both the HEBREW and the GREEK word meaning match up exactly with the OLD and NEW TESTAMENT scriptures in COLOSSIANS 2:16 and EZEKIEL 45:17 and the other scriptures already posted providing the best tranlation that match the scriptures PAUL is referring to in the OLD TESTAMENT. As shown earlier...

COLOSSIANS 2:16 [16], Let no man therefore judge you in MEAT, OR IN DRINK or in respect of FEASTS, or of the NEW MOON, or of the SABBATH DAYS

It is very clear what PAUL is quoting from here...

Hope this helps.

For example LGW, you quoted Ezekiel 45:17 which has 'meat offerings'. In a modern and more accurate translation it will have 'grain offering'. I don't know about you but to me there is a marked difference between meat and grain!
This does not really make much differnce and has alreacdy been discussed in the previous posts. The HEBREW and GREEK word MEAT; FOOD; GRAINS are part of the same word deinitions of the many applications of the GREEK and HEBREW words meanings. The KJV and similar tranlations show the highest itegrity of translation as the reference to MEAT and DRINK wheather MEAT; DRINK; GRAIN; FOOD are all referring to the offerings under the SHADOW laws from MOSIAC BOOK of the OLD COVENANT *EXODUS 24:7 which are linked together with NEW MOONS, FESTIVALS and ceremonial sabbaths have their origin to the ANNUAL FESTIVALS of the OLD COVENANT.
I have already demonstrated that the Koine Greek in the verse (Colossians 2:16) says 'food and drink', and not 'meat and drink'.
Nope. No you didn't. The complete KOINE Greek is attached the previous posts and show that MEAT is included in the Greek translation and the HEBREW which is correctly translated in the KJV and other translations showing linkage to the OLD TESTAMENT scriptures PAUL is referencing in COLOSSIANS 2:16.

Hope this helps.

The translation of Colossians 2:16 is one of the critical verses for the SDA folk. If they translate this verse incorrectly everything collapses. Even Young's literal translation states 'eating and drinking'.Translate accurately LGW.
Rubbish. Well that statement has no truth in it brother. You have only part quoted the GREEK leaving out the definition to MEAT in COLOSSIANS 2:16 as demonstrated in both the GREEK; HEBREW word definitionsd and the word for word scripture references of COLOSSIANS 2:16 to EZEKIEL 47:17. Your NEW translation compared to the KJV and similar translations are false ones.

COLOSSIANS 2:16 [16], Let no man therefore judge you in MEAT, OR IN DRINK or in respect of FEASTS, or of the NEW MOON, or of the SABBATH DAYS

It is very clear what PAUL is quoting from here...

Now brother, even if you translate MEAT and DRINK as something else it does not do away with the fact that PAUL'S reference here is to the SHADOW laws connected to the ANNUAL FEASTS. This has already been demonstrated by showing the within scripture and chapter context in previous posts to you. So which ever way you want to look at it your argument falls to pieces brother.

Sorry David God's WORD disagrees with you.

I need the source for the following.

Google is your friend if you have no books. Blue letter; Studylight etc...
Hello LGW.

Google is good but not always accurate.
Your confused brother. I have only provided God's WORD and it is rightly divided. (Post #110)
Rightly divided you say and it's God's WORD?

How about we check whether you have rightly divided the scripture.

You remember that we have a standoff regarding the translation of Colossians 2:16, i.e., is (G1035, brosis) food or meat. So how can we test your translation of G1035 for accuracy?

Let's choose a verse in the scripture where the translation is specific.

Genesis 1:29 (KJV)
And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.

Well LGW, the KJV is clearly wrong in this instance because meat does not grow on trees.

Rightly divided you say?

The wider translation of the scripture by the KJV will of course, confuse these two words, 'meat' and 'food'. Which becomes painfully obvious in Colossians 2:16.

Here is another example.

Luke 24:30 (KJV)
32 But he said unto them, I have meat (G1035) to eat that ye know not of.

Does that translation make any sense, seriously LGW, what is this KJV preoccupation with chops and steaks?

Just check a modern translation.

John 4:32 (YLT)
And he said to them, `I have food to eat that ye have not known.'

Rightly divided you say, well LGW your translation is faulty to start with. As a consequence you are incorrectly matching New Testament verses to Old Testament verses, where no match exists.

Hello David,

Your simply repeating yourself without reading or addressing any of the posts and scriptures provided to you earlier. Ignoring God's WORD does not make it disappear.

Now here your trying to make a strawman argument that I have never said or argued about. I have already stated in my very first posts to you addressing the GREEK, the within scripture and chapter contrext of COLOSSIANS 2:16 in reference to MEAT and DRINKS and all through this discussion that the meanings for the GREEK WORD brosis can be translated as FOOD, or MEAT. So if I have already stated this why pretend that I haven't and why make arguments no one is arguing about?

There are burn't offerings (literal meat) as well as grain offeriengs these are food offerings. Which ever way you wish to interpret "brosis" it really makes little difference to COLOSSIANS 2:16 and the references PAUL is referring to in the OLD TESTAMENT as shown in the previous scriptures in earlier posts.

So brother, even if you translate MEAT, (FOOD) and DRINK as something else (e.g brosis also interprets as rust) it does not do away with the fact that PAUL'S reference here is to the SHADOW laws connected to the ANNUAL FEASTS. This has already been demonstrated by showing the within scripture and chapter context in previous posts to you. So which ever way you want to look at it your argument falls to pieces.

Sorry David God's WORD disagrees with you.

It is very clear what PAUL is quoting from here...

Yes and the NT is the narrative of the substance.

I've always understood what you're saying long before I started studying. The only thing I can come up with is it's not LGW's love letter.

Food and drink, the Colossians text says nothing about burnt offerings or grain offerings.

Why do you think that the mention of 'food' relates to a grain offering?

No one eats a burnt offering or a grain offering, they are not food. Why are you so persistent in this interpretation of Colossians 2:16.

Paul says to let no one judge you in food and drink. Paul does not say; don't let anyone judge you regarding burnt offerings.

What is your issue LGW?

Why don't you just simply read the text as it is?

Nothing could be any simpler than one of Paul's letters.

Your confused David. Comparing scripture with scripture looking at the within scripture and chapter context as shown in the scriptures in earlier posts to you disagrees with your interpretation of COLOSSIANS 2.

MEAT or FOOD (whichever way you want to translate it doesn't matter) and DRINK offerings were a part of the OLD COVENANT. PAUL in COLOSIANS 2:16 is quoting from EZEKIEL 45:17 referring to the laws in ORDINANCES *COLOSSIANS 2:14 from the SHADOW laws of MOSAIC BOOK of the OLD COVENANT *EXODUS 24:7. This is both the within scripture context and the within chapter context of COLOSSIANS 2:11-17.

Within scripture NEW TESTAMENT being quoted from the OLD TESTAMENT...

COLOSSIANS 2:16 [16], Let no man therefore judge you in MEAT, OR IN DRINK or in respect of FEASTS, or of the NEW MOON, or of the SABBATH DAYS

It is very clear what PAUL is quoting from here...

Now brother, even if you translate MEAT and DRINK as something else it does not do away with the fact that PAUL'S reference here is to the SHADOW laws connected to the ANNUAL FEASTS (within scripture context of COL 2:16). This has already been demonstrated by showing the within scripture and chapter context in previous posts to you. So which ever way you want to look at it your argument falls to pieces brother.

Your looking at one section of a single scripture while ignoring the rest of the within scripture and chapter context on laws in ORDINANCES v14 and the shadow laws of CIRCUMCISION, MEAT and DRINK, NEW MOONS, FEASTS and shadow sabbaths (plural).

If you do not know what the OLD COVENANT is how can you understand what the NEW COVENANT is that the OLD COVENANT points to?

Hope this helps.

What LGW might be doing is using a concordance to find every place a word or phrase is used. I think this evidenced by both the volume and context of his quotes.
