Bachman is a lunatic, all the proof you need to see that the right has no capability for competence
Sorry to be the one to break this to you, but you hurling an unsupported insult is not quite the same thing as you providing proof.

Well, if this is a battle between wackos on the left and the right, I see your Michelle Bachman and raise you one Maxine Waters.

Waters has nothing on Mrs "Lets investigate the Pro-America and Anti-America tendencies of Congress" Bachmann (with 2 n's)

What do you base that characterization on? Is there anything substantive behind that slur? Or is it just a leftist equivalent of "Obama is an America-hating, Muslim communist"?

Does Chris Matthews owe Michele Bachmann an apology?

I am so sick of politicians playing word games. If they are not going to answer the questions asked about what they said BEFORE the election then they are just playing games.

Matthews or any person asking a politician about what they said and then trying to get an answer is doing the voters a favor. At least Matthews lets everybody know what kind of show he has and sticks with his tough questions. After all the politicians know that his show is called HARDBALL!

Matthews is irritating at times but I am more irritated by politicians that avoid addressing their words and promises. Remember what Harry Truman said, “If you can’t stand the heat get out of the kitchen” If a politician can not stand the heat of some one asking them to answer a question about their own words then they need to get out of politics.

MATTHEWS: Will you use the subpoena power which you will have as a majority, if you claim the majority of the Congress, it looks like you will, will you use the subpoena power to do what you said on my program you would do, investigate the Democratic members of Congress for un-American activities?
BACHMANN: Well, I think the first thing we're going to do is try and set the economy in order because jobs is the big issue. You were just having a discussion about that. And what people want to make sure is that no one's taxes are going up. So I'm calling on Speaker Pelosi during the lame duck session to listen to the American people. They're speaking overwhelmingly tonight. "Don't raise our taxes. Stop the out of control spending. " That's how we're going to get jobs back. So I hope that during the lame duck session, she'll have an extension of all of the current tax policy. Because the very sad story is that one second after midnight, every taxpayer in the United States will see a dramatic increase in taxes. No one can afford that right now. That's job one for the United States Congress. We better listen to what the people have been saying. We better do what they're asking us to do.
MATTHEWS:
Who do you want to investigate the Democratic members of Congress for un-American thinking?

BACHMANN: Well, the plan that I've been talking about all through this election is really four things. And I would encourage the new Republican leadership to take this on as the agenda in 2011. And it's very simple. It's keep the current tax policy so no one has increased taxes. Number two, we need to put a full scale repeal of Obamacare passed through the House, hopefully it can get through the Senate, and then number three, we need to make sure that we secure the United States borders. And number four, we need to make sure that we don't have a huge increase in national energy tax. Those are the four issues that the American people want the Congress to deal with because they want to get certainty back into the economy.

I'd be willing to chalk all this up to her not being able to hear the entire question. I know I wouldn't want to answer if I only heard half of the question, especially if I had just been elected. Last thing I would want is a scandal before it's even official.

Not very bright of Matthews to ask the question in that environment. I can see what he means and I think politicians evading questions is infuriating, but I'm not so clear that was the case this time.

Comparisons are always valid in any debate. I don't know why some on these forums run from that notion so hard.
I'm guessing that's meant as sarcasm in view of "Gawron's Law".

tu quoque is often the result of these comparisons. Genuine comparison is good, but it's often done so in place of any real defense of an individuals actions.

Obviously. it does not matter to you if what Chris said was true or not.

MATTHEWS: Will you use the subpoena power which you will have as a majority, if you claim the majority of the Congress, it looks like you will, will you use the subpoena power to do what you said on my program you would do, investigate the Democratic members of Congress for un-American activities?

The fact is the Bachmann never said that at all. So the whole premise of the question was built on a lie.

Bachmann was graceful and respectful with her answers and wasn't going down the sewer lane that Chris wanted.

Chris, on the other hand, went on further in his mantra of deception to pardon himself and then decided he needed to call Mrs. Bachmann "moronic" as well. 5:17 Chris says "the important question" and then lies his fat bottom off.

Nice Journalism there sdmsanjose, eh?

Here is the video of the original interview that Matthews built his lie upon from way back in Oct. 2008.

Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) requesting a media investigation of "liberals" who are "un-american".
After Chris's prodding and promotion of such an expose in his defense of the One.

If Matthews owes anyone anything, it is to the viewers of the MSNBC coverage. Asking that question of a candidate in a noisy auditorium through an earpiece with all the hoopla going on at that particular time, was nothing short of nonsensical. What an idiot. Totally unprofessional.

Matthews needed to save a question like that for a one-on-one interview where the question would be understood and then answered without background interference. He also chose his words in a way to where she would look like some kind of Leo McCarthy clone before she even began to answer the question. It was leading and a cheap shot.

He doesn't need to apologize to her for it because she smartly side-stepped it. It didn't deserve a response so she didn't give one. I'm sure she has seen how those at MSNBC conduct themselves before, so it certainly didn't hit her by surprise. She just properly ignored the bone-head.
Great post there BoltNut.

Thank you for a reasoned responce, even though my OP was lacking due to getting ahead of myself.

In the words of another comment...

He shoots, he scores!!
