#1. I don't follow Ann Coulter, read her columns, or read her books. However, I simply made the point that she's NOT worse than any other bigmouth on the liberal side. Puh-lease do not try and convince me otherwise - it just looks plain silly. We can keep going with the "she said-he's said" stuff & post examples on BOTH sides until the COWS come home.
#2. Just because I answered the OP by pointing out that she has a book on the NY Times bestseller list doesn't mean I bought it myself (or that no liberal has ever had a book on the list, either). Man, let's try and stay MATURE, folks.
#3. I loved how Ann Coulter is an idiot, but yet it's ok for a white, liberal male radio host to get away with calling Condi Rice "an Aunt Jemima" and have that NOT be racist or offensive???? Wow. That one blows me away. Yes, that was indeed in Dane Country. Um, where I live - so shall I find the column for you that an African-American, LIBERAL, woman wrote to the paper following that incident? It regarded that very label he gave to her - there was pure OUTRAGE that he used it at ALL, whether it's "justified" or not. I'm not African-American - so those who are & found it ok (mhatten), or those who are & were outraged (um, another CF person that doesn't post very much. Do you remember who it was, mhatten?) are really the ONLY ones who can give us credible opinions on that one, sir.

That quote is commonly used against Coulter, but from what I've read, it was taken out of context.

I believe she was speaking as a 'what if' scenario toward the actions of extremist Muslims.
A "What if we acted like they do?" kinda thing.

And even if that wasn't the case... look at the date she made the comment. Hell, I was ****ed off enough to say the same thing too.

Despite what the original context was, she continues to use it in her little rants, including one as recently as a week ago. What context was that in? Wishing the muslim world a very "merry christmas," by wishing all our countries invaded and that we were all forcibly converted to christianity.

Around Sept. 11th I was not yet upset, I still was full of deep sadness and sympathy for those who lost their lives, I also suprised on how Americas actions on the world stage could indoctrinate someone with enough hate to die in such a horrific act of suicide and vengence.

To say that only a person of color can speak out or for(?) any racial slur, is doing nothing more than enabling the diffrences between races to be evident and magnified.
that like saying that me being a male I cant tell someone that hitting a woman is wrong because i am not a female and cant make that logical assement?...
We all should no matter our skin tone be passionately against any form of racism or bigotry for that matter.

I'm pretty sure that the fundamental extremist Muslim views haven't changed that much against the US, so maybe Coulter's opinion hasn't changed that much against them.

Well, that was you. Me? I was angry. I wanted us to get who was responsible for this, and make them pay in the most painful way possible. Do unto them as they did unto us.

Was it the right thing to think? No, I'm not saying that it was. But it was my reaction nonetheless. I daresay I wasn't alone in my sentiments at the time.

Again, I don't doubt your credibility, Rahma. But, I would really like to see a credible source or link for that quote you keep using. I know you have provided me some blogs (like a Ted Nugent one? A Leftist America one?), but I would really like to see a credible news source, or perhaps something from an Ann Coulter source itself? I just hate to keep debating something that may very well be a rumor, or urban legend floating around the internet.

If it is true, then I do not agree with her on that harsh of a statement, most definitely. I think you'll find a lot of conservative Christians do not feel like that. We are not to FORCE anyone to convert. That's an example of something I don't accept. However, she HAS made some valid political points in the past I HAVE agreed with, etc.

Apparently the same is true for liberals who apparently don't like much of what a VERY liberal Alan Colmes says, just because he works at Fox? What's funny is that they accuse of him of not being harsh enough, yet slam Ann Coulter for her harshness. Ha! Gotta love it....

And no, I don't think she's along the same lines as bin Laden and his bunch. I said that I think it was merely a statement in anger and as a hypothetical one, 'what if we did the same to them as they want to do to us?'.

I've read some of Ann's stuff and I agree that she can be a bit scathing to those of different ideologies, but that's part of the charm of her in my opinion. She's not afraid to offend someone by saying what she thinks and not pulling her punches. A trait that is, unfortunately (In my opinion), all but gone in today's PC-oriented media. Reading her stuff is entertaining and at times quite funny.

Do I agree with everything she says? No. But do I think it's good that she ruffles feathers and stirs up thought and controversy with her books and articles? Yes. We need more writers like that on all the hues of the political spectrum. It certainly would get more folks into what goes on politically in this country.

Then why did you post a follow-up to it? It looked suspiciously to some of us like you were defending him. And, no - what I meant in my post (and didn't specify, sorry - my bad), was that only a person of the race in question can tell us if it's "ok" to use a racist term, ala the "Aunt Jemima". (Even if many others were outraged). Mhatten is African-American & thought it was ok. I disagreed, but respected her opinion because it's applicable to her. I already said in an earlier post I thought it was despicable, so I indeed DID share my own personal opinion on the matter. My father is Puerto Rican (I lived there as a child), and would not want someone calling me ANYTHING that alludes to my race, gender, or nationality when discussing my career choices. See? It is racist, period, no matter how you paint it.

Hope that clears THAT up now. Sheesh.

Just to clarify it doesn't matter if the leaders of these countries are Islamic. The fact is oppression is not apart of Islam.It is apart of the mentality that people think that other people need to be controlled. You'll find that I think even in Christian cultures. It may be helpful for you to research Islam before you make statements like this.

And I would really like to know what "better way" do you speak of?
