I guess it suits your agenda to say that but my post clearly stated that the abraisivness was on both sides of the fence.

Would you like for me to quote it again?

That issue aside the thread is not titled "Does anybody listen to liberal or conservative abraisive columnists" it is specific to Ann Coulter and I addressed that and showing non-partisanship I clearly stated it happens on both sides.

Like the time when she said the real tragedy of 9/11 was that it wasn't the New York Times office building that was hit?

Er, I believe that was the OK City bombing, not the 9/11 attacks.

Although... It's either a joke in very poor taste, or a comment in very poor taste. I don't think it can be redeemed easily.

Did I say that? All I said is that she wasn't being serious. I think that that was out of line but the point I was trying to make was that she says stuff that she doesn't really mean or she is being sarcastic when she says it.
Sarcasm is basically irony that is intended to insult. So maybe you're right after all.

wouldnt it be hilarious if we found out that Ann Coulter actually voted for John Kerry?
(you know she is a self admitted dead head) , She just goes for the party zealots who have the bigger pockets and laughs all the way to the bank...
i find her entertaining and take her serious about as much as I do jerry springer re-runs.

I couldn't have said it better. Alan Comes is a moderate. If you want true progressive/liberal commentary, read Molly Ivins.

Hah! I'd love to see Hannity paired with her. That would an interesting show.

I don't Ivins getting pushed over.

That is beside the point. The fact that others are abrasive in no way justifys Coulter being abrasive. Your argument is attempting to divert attention from Coulter and to justify her by saying that others do it too.

You tend to hang out in the RNC forums where such arguments will get you a pat on the back. Here in the GP forums they will be called out for what they are.

I would love to have a discussion about one or more abrasive liberal columnists, but here is not the place.

Besides the point that this is about Coulter, not Liberal columnists, I don't think I've ever seen anything coming from the liberal side that compares to Coulter. Those liberal columnists that may be as abrasive as Coulter don't share the same level of popularity as Coulter does and those that do share the same level of popularity don't seem to have the same level of abrasiveness as Coulter does. I guess the closest person you can get is Michael Moore, but I don't find him as abrasive as Coulter, or Al Franken who isn't nearly as bad as Coulter and most of his stuff that could be considered abrasive are jokes - he is a humorist after all.

I agree that sometimes the intention of sarcasm is to insult, but it's definitely not endemic to such. Jesus was sarcastic several times, but every time it was to teach by heaping coals atop one's head. (Usually the disciples;) )

Sarcasm can be a very useful humorous tool, and it does not have to be used in a way that insults someone. Though, people's pride will sometimes make them feel insulted, when really they have just been corrected.
