  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Does anyone listen to Ann Coulter anymore?

Blemonds did not reply to my earlier post about Cananda because it contains facts. It demonstrates that Coulter knows NOTHING about foreign countries or foreign policy.

Blemonds in post #289:
<< Yes, we have video tape in particular of McDermott, Bonior and Penn on foreign (enemy) soil criticizing our government in the lead up to war. That is treason. the fact that these people are not in Leavenworth right now is evidence of a weakness in America. A weakness I would like to see us overcome. Oh my Gosh. In my old age, I must becoming senile. We talk of treason and I left out Hanoi Jane. Hanoi Jane should have been executed by firing squad. No ifs, ands, or buts. >>

Some say that John Kerry should be shot for treason for disagreeing with his Commander-In-Chief. One wonders if General Douglas MacArthur would also be shot for treason, since his disagreements with President Truman are well known.

A fake photo showing John Kerry and Jane Fonda on stage together at an anti-war rally has made the rounds. This is mentioned in the September issue of Reader’s Digest. Photo sleuths say the picture of Kerry came from a rally in New York while the picture of Fonda was taken in Miami, in different years.

Not everything that Jane Fonda is reputed to have said and done in North Vietnam is true. Moreover, Jane Fonda isn’t the only American, or the first, or the highest ranking, to take such a trip. Ramsey Clark visited North Vietnam in the summer of 1971 as part of a propaganda show. He had been Lyndon Johnson’s Attorney General only a couple of years before. Clark’s visit would seem to me to be of far more importance. Ramsey Clark hasn’t dropped off the map, he is involved in every radical cause you’ve ever heard of and several you never imagined possible.

When reactionaries denounce Jane Fonda and never mention Ramsey Clark it looks like they don’t know the history of the era that obsesses them.

Personally, I find the spectacle of former South Vietnamese President Ky living in California running a tobacco shop more infuriating. Americans took nearly sixty thousand deaths and a million serious injuries while South Vietnam couldn’t rouse a ghost of a hint of a flicker of interest in defending itself.

Either that or I was watching a movie and haven't even seen the post. Frankly, I refuted post after post regarding Ann and rather than admit error, her detractors just copy n' paste another smear from a "hate Ann Coulter website

I've never heard anybody say that. I would have considered having him shot for his consorting with the North Vietnamese during the Paris peace talks, but not for disagreeing with his Commander-in-Chief. I assume you made that allegation up

While this is true, it does not absolve her of the things I mentioned which she did indeed do.

That also does not absolve her of her crimes. Ramsey Clark in his own right is also a traitor as is Tom Hayden.

It's not necessary to mention every single person involved in a situation in order to make a point. That is just a dodge to avoid the reality of my comments

All irrelvant to my statements.

What's that old saying, "Ignorance is bliss"

What's that other one?
"Shall we make a new rule of life from tonight? always try to be a little kinder than is necessary."
-Sir James M. Barrie
I think I like that one better. :)
