I honestly believe that it is what Christians do with the guns that determined whether or not they should have it. If Christians have it for show, then that is ridiculous. If they have it for safety, because maybe they live in a bad part of town where there are burglars, rapists and/or murders around them then why wouldn't they want to have security knowing that they will be protected in case of an emergency. As for other people, I know many Christians who have guns because they hunt deer, boar, turkey, and ducks to donate to families who do not get the privilege to buy food at the grocery stores every week or get to have a dinner every night. It all depends on the situation.

I remember seeing Christians on the news suffering terrible hardship being driven for miles on the dusty roads and I thought at the time, 'What must those people be thinking now about their Lord - the terrible suffering they are going through? and we saw later. Those people were so lifted up in Love for Him they it seemed they was already out of this world.

What about David and Goliath? Goliath had armour and a sword. David had a predecessor of a gun and a bullet, it was the great equalizer.

I'm saying you should not presume that God will work the exact say way with others as He does with you. HE broke Peter out of prison, but with Paul, his friends put him in a basket and lowered him out of the tower out of harms way. Another time Paul was bitten by a poisonous snake and just shook it off and went on his way, but that does not mean that it's ok to play with poisonous snakes. Of course we should all presume that God will protect us. However we should not presume that He will protect everyone in the SAME exact WAY that He's protected someone else. God may have me speak, in the way that you demonstrated with your would-be attacker. Another person He may have them use a weapon and HE gives them the strength and wisdom in using it.

No, there is no indication that the servant had attacked Peter. Jesus was the target of the arrest and Jesus had already laid out to the disciples what was supposed to happen that night. Peter was trying to prevent Jesus' arrest, NOT defend himself.
