Do you think it's Christian to own guns?

Yahshua came to divide....it's that simple.

Genesis 1 is a chapter of DIVISION.

Yah calls his own out, from the beginning.

That is why the Adversary preaches unity.
Yes, He came to divide the truth from the lie. :) The adversary preaches unified dissension. Yeshua did not come to cause hatred within family members but said, that because of Him, there would be. It's not the follower of Yeshua that is hateful but the ones who are following Yeshua are hated.

My 10 year old son has his own rifle and hand gun........think we'll shoot a little tomorrow.

I got a .22 when I was ten. 12 gauge when I was twelve, but I hadn't yet hit my growth spurt so I spent more time icing my shoulder than I did actually shooting it.

All our children who are old enough to safely handle a firearm are well trained. The two little ones will be.

My wife and daughters compete in trap shooting and the boys and I all participate in Appleseed events.

Could you please cite the verse where Jesus gives His word He will protect us?
2Thessalonians 3:3 But the Lord is faithful. He will establish you and guard you against the evil one
1John 5:19 We know that we are from God, and the whole world lies in the power of the evil one.
Isaiah 41:10 fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Isaiah 54:17 no weapon that is fashioned against you shall succeed, and you shall refute every tongue that rises against you in judgment. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD and their vindication from me, declares the LORD.”

Psalm 46:1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

Psalm 91:1-3 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the LORD, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence.

Psalm 121:7-8 The LORD will keep you from all evil; he will keep your life. 8 The LORD will keep your going out and your coming in from this time forth and forevermore.

Ephesians 1:11 In him we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of him who works all things according to the counsel of his will,

Daniel 12:1 “At that time shall arise Michael, the great prince who has charge of your people. And there shall be a time of trouble, such as never has been since there was a nation till that time. But at that time your people shall be delivered, everyone whose name shall be found written in the book.

1John 5:18 We know that everyone who has been born of God does not keep on sinning, but he who was born of God protects him, and the evil one does not touch him.

I have no idea friend, all I know is if you take Jesus at His word to protect you - He will. I have a simple faith and I think that works best
I do not disagree with that, but in the event that someone is presuming to have the same faith as you and it does not work, then what? If you cannot answer the question as to why Yeshua did not tell his disciples to get rid of their swords, then there is a lot of presumption on your part in telling people they should drop theirs (guns). Yes, we should have the faith to accomplish whatever we need to at the time we need it, but not everyone is there. I've known too many people who just did what others told them and it sounded good but it did not work the same as promised for them. God gives different instructions to different people. For now, God has instructed me to not have a gun, but I do not presume that He's instructed everyone else the same way. One can have faith and trust in God while defending themselves too.

Protection of the spirit, not of the body.

I don't think these scriptures are just for one's spirit. God is in the business of protecting one's body too. I think it depends on what God directs each person personally to do in each situation. There are times He says "stand and watch ME", then there are times where He says "you act, and I've got your back". Either way, God is protecting.

None of these verses say Jesus protects us from physical threats. They say He protects us from sin, from falling, and keeps our salvation. None say He protects us from attackers, from sickness, from fire, from car accidents, from toenail fungus. Nothing.

To act foolishly, to refuse to act prudently, in the belief that you don't have to because Jesus will protect you isn't faith. It's something the Bible describes as tempting God and is considered a serious sin.

most of the verses begin with a conjunctive phrase, which any honest person would have acknowledged tell you that the context begins in previous verses.

John 18:10
Jesus' Betrayal and Arrest
9to fulfill the word which He spoke, "Of those whom You have given Me I lost not one." 10Simon Peter then, having a sword, drew it and struck the high priest's slave, and cut off his right ear; and the slave's name was Malchus.11So Jesus said to Peter, "Put the sword into the sheath; the cup which the Father has given Me, shall I not drink it?"

You realize that Peter attempted to cut Malchus' head off? right?

One does not draw his sword in the company of Roman soldiers and expect to live.

Which goes to prove there's none so blind as those that don't want to see
or deaf as those that don't want to hear.
I thoroughly disagree with you - protection is protection in any shape or form - and He does it! I wouldn't be here to tell you otherwise

We should never presume that God is always going to do things through us the same exact way He always has. Moses learned the hard way when he hit the rock twice (that's the way God took care of it before) instead of only once, as God had instructed him for the next time.

You can disagree all you like. I really don't care.

You don't even know the difference between a sword and a knife. You're hardly an expert on this.

Luke 22:26
Jesus Predicts Peter's Denial
35And He said to them, "When I sent you out without money belt and bag and sandals, you did not lack anything, did you?" They said, "No, nothing." 36And He said to them, "But now, whoever has a money belt is to take it along, likewise also a bag, and whoever has no sword is to sell his coat and buy one. 37"For I tell you that this which is written must be fulfilled in Me, 'AND HE WAS NUMBERED WITH TRANSGRESSORS'; for that which refers to Me has its fulfillment."…

Why? because Yahshua knew he would no longer be there to protect them.

So what are you trying to prove?

Jesus didn't teach pacifism. If he did, none of his disciples would have been carrying swords.

35 Then Jesus asked them, “When I sent you without purse, bag or sandals did you lack anything?”

“Nothing,” they answered.

He said to them, “But now if you have a purse, take it, and also a bag; and if you don’t have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one.

EDIT: I see my response was at the same time as another. Case in point.

It also occurs that I should mention that I have the opinions I do, despite the fact that my brother was a victim of gun violence. I'm more than qualified to state my case.

Read: He was *murdered* by a woman who he thought loved him. If she didn't have a gun, she would have committed the crime using other means. So, this argument personally affects me and I'm still all in favor of having the right to bear arms. I would give anything to have him back, but I know that giving up the ability to own firearms wouldn't bring him back from the grave.

I will also suggest this-

There is only ONE reason you even exist today. Those who came before you fought, killed, died, so that you could exist.

If you understood anything at all about the bible, the Scripture, the Word, it's that the Adversary (Satan, Lucifer) has been trying to kill of Yah's Righteous line from the beginning.

Kill the Remnant and the promises die with them.
