  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I remember all those radios and record players. In fact I still have my parents old radio with pull out record player drawer that plays 78 rpm record.(Still have a few of my dads old ones like Benny Goodman, the Ink Spots etc)
I managed to snag heavy duty table top record player a couple of years ago fromt he school I work at. It plays everything. I can finally play all lmy old records and my disabled son loves to go to the thrift store and by records for 25 cents. My only regret is I no longer have any of my 45 rpm. collection.

I also remember Fibber McGhee and Molly and my closets remind me of that show lol Jan

Rod Serling visited our school back in '61. He looked the same as he did on TV. Kids were raising their hands to ask him a question. I thought they were insane. I mean, I would be to scared. lol. Anyway, the last thing he said to us was he'd wink at us on the show next time. I watched Twilight Zone every single week after that to see if he would wink and he never did. :( I was so mad. I thought a man's word was his bond. At least back then. lol. Anyway, even now, I still watch to see if he winks. He hasn't yet. lol.

Another Australian lady said that too Bev. It was on another forum. She said the exact same thing.

My sister saw them in person. She's 62 now. But she went to the airport in Miami when they arrived in '64. She said there were so many girls she couldn't get close enough to see them. Some guy lifted her up so she could see over the crowd when they emerged from the plane. She said she was glad he did that because she was able to see 4 mop tops walking down the steps of the plane.

Did you live in England back then Jim?

Well, Bev, sometimes I get a flashback of the way I felt about them back then and it's exhiliarating. But fleeting. I had a big crush on John. I liked George second best. Paul and Ringo just weren't in the cards. lol.

But my 2 favorite Beatles bit the dust. :(

I learned to read with Dick & Jane books too Bonnie. They were fun. I think that hairdo is a duck something. I don't know. lol. I hate them. lol.

Miggles, I left England in 1948, but I returned home for a month every year until I had my stroke some 14 years ago.

Our best man lived in Bootle (near Liverpool) and he knew all the Beatles when they were just pub boys.

They came on the scene at the right time for their style of music. One could understand what they were singing. To-day, I haven't a clue what words people are supposed to be singing...the music is too loud, and the singers slur every word.

Cheers,

Jim
