  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

That is too cool Jim. Your best man new the Beatles before they were famous? Woweee. I'd like to have a chat with him. lol. You oughta invite him here.

I'm sorry about the stroke. :( How come you left England? I think I'd rather live in England than Canada. I think I'd rather live in England than the US. lol.

You are right about the music.

I am afraid Reggie has never used a computer, and he still lives in Bootle.

Remember, 1948 was just after the war years and we lived through some wicked years. I had just completed Bible training by 1948. Opportunities just weren't there in England and Canada opened her doors to Brits...we didn't need papers in those days.

England is not the same to-day. You might enjoy a tour there, but I could never live there again. There isn't a country on earth to match the benefits of living in Canada. It has everything. I wouldn't give up Canada for anything.

Cheers,

Jim

Isn't it kinda cold up there? :D

It must have beautiful unspoiled land. The wildlife must be fantastic. I am beholden to y'all for protecting it.

Maybe I am one of the few remaining Beatle fans but I still think they were amazingly talented. That said the magic was lost to me when they split up. They were never as good alone as they were together. I am enjoying the new remixed CD called LOVE of Beatle songs.(Remixing was done by their former producer George Martin and his son Giles.) It is quite intriguing. George Martin definitely had alot to do with their sucessful recording career and I think because he was not a Rock and Roll producer but a classical producer he didn't pigeon hole their sound. He was able to hear things in their music and unleash the creative spirit. They were first for many things in pop music and although my 20 yr old insists U2 is the greatest band of all time I still maintain the Beatles were. Bob Dylan isn't too bad either.

Canada actually has a very diversified climate and semi arid desert like areas in the interior and southern part of British Columbia. We are more temperate in the summer on the coast but it is still in the mid 70's or higher. I know Montreal and Toronto are sweltering in the summer. So no it isn't all that cold unless you live in the artic areas like Iqualuit.

Ain't it the truth we all just loved that crazy Liverpudlian accent. My favourite was also George by the way. He was quiet but wrote what I think are two of the Beatles best songs. Here Comes the Sun and Something in the Way She Moves
His song Within You and Without You is remixed to the heavy back beat drumming from Tomorrow Never Knows on the new CD Very effective.

Quote: Y'know migs, I am wondering now what everyone saw in them. Like, back in the 60's, a name of a band called "The Beatles" was really weird! Their hairdo was truly weird too!
--------------------------------------------

Hey! That hair style was common on school boys in those years in England, especially Scousers.

Cheers,

Jim

Jan you're right about the Beatles but as the way of almost all groups when they get popular they went by the way of drugs, which really messed then and their careers up. They go to big to fast like Oxonian Bayou(ice skater)

Well they weren't alone in that during the 60's. :( It is amazing how many of the performers of that day have died of drug overdoses or have continuing health problems due to drug use. The worst drug for George though was smoking. He was NEVER without a ciggie. It got him in the end poor lad.
I am not sure but I think Scousers would be equivalent to our term Greasers. Correct me if I am wrong Jim.
And MIggles I did make it through the work day and it was even kind of a fun day. I am so lucky to get to do such a variety of things everyday with my students.(Wood working, Art, Fitness, Adapted Learning, Accounting etc.):D Jan
