  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I was never a lover of the moon pies but pretty much anything from Little Debbies will do it for me.:yum:

Oh, McWilliams I believe you have it. I think it was Moon Pies. Whew that's a relief, unless someone comes along and says thats not it, but I believe that is what I was thinking of. I should have read your post closer and then would not have posted Sweetie Pies. [sign]THANK YOU[/sign]

Hey - I even remember spats and white bucks

I loved white bucks. The girls wore them when I was in high school. I remember marching in pep club formation at the football games intermission. We wore purple sweaters, hats, and white pleated skirts with purple socks and white bucks. Sometimes got grass stain all over mine, but kept buffing and polishing them.

Purple and white..fight, fight..who fight?..we fight...purple and white fight fight.

Well I didn't wear a skirt with mine but we wore them in band. :D :D It was manditory. Always had to polish them afterwords.

One of the perks of the golden years is that you can buy a pair of comfy Birkenstocks, wear em with or without socks, and they last at least ten years. (mine have anyway) and you never have to polish them.

Hey, everyone...do you remember when taking a trip meant going to see your relatives twenty or thirty miles away or even across town?

Now it's cross country trips in motorhomes or even driving the Alaska Highway (which I have done twelve times)..and jets anywhere from Florida to Rome...what a whirl and what a world!!

Nite all...

How's-a-'bout a "Bit-0-Honey" bar?

or a "Zero" bar?

Yes, I remember both of those. Never cared for the Zero much; at least I rarely bought it, as I remember. I think Bit-o- Honey's still available though. 2-3 weeks before Easter, Halloween, and Christmas are the 3 best times of the year to find the scarcer, harder to find candy varieties in drug stores.

Anyone remember the Peanut Log bar?

FINS on Chevy's?
Yep, I remember those! How about those double tail-lights in those huge fins on a 1959 Caddie?

I always remembered that you could tell the difference between a 1959 Chevy and a 1960 Chevy by looking at the rear "fins" over the tail lights. The 1959's fin curved all the way, and the 1960's curved most of the way but then were straight/parallel to the ground, on the top! :)

There was also one model of a 1956 Chevy that looked almost exactly like the 1957 Chevys, but I think you could differentiate it because it didn't have those 2 "bullets" on the hood, right?

And of course you could always tell the '55 Chevy Nomad wagon from a '56, by it's larger, higher, rear fender wells (assuming you hadn't put skirts on it that is :D )!

Ok, for you ladies: remember playing "jacks", with the little red ball and metal star-shaped "jacks"? My sisters were always playing that.

We played "Pick up Sticks" together, and the board games, "Life" & "Careers". Anyone remember those? Another excellent (and educational) game we played as young kids was "Animal Lotto", with it's glossy, cardboard pictures of animals like an ant-eater, llama, aardvark, badger, etc.

I am certainly happy that we all got our answer. I was thinking of Moon Pies. And Birdfriend, I am pleased that you also got the answer to your question. I could not get it out of my head all day yesterday and you said you had been trying to think of it for some time longer than that, Bless you, I would probably have been totally nuts by now, but wait, I may have already gone there.

Yes, played jacks every noon hour and recess and once in a while I played marbles too although it was more of a boy thing in those days. I had a cool marble collection.

We all loved "Monopoly" and still play it sometimes. I remember it took so long we seldom ever finished a game though. Now I favor "Clue" and "trivia pursuit." and play these with my grandkids. Some things just never grow old. :D
