  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Hi all - Seems like you all have your memories in high gear today. I remember the 56 and 57 chevy's real well. The 57 was my dream car but I had a 56 - 2 door hardtop (without the divider between windows). It was a beauty. Sierra Gold and yes they had the bulb lights in the back as opposed to the long fin type of the 57.

I think I said before that we played monopoly and sometimes worked those huge jigsaw puizzles. (I'm going to try this joke one more time for those who may have missed it)... I got really good at jigsaw puzles. In fact the last one I worked said 3 years and up and I worked it in only 3 weeks !!! :D That's the last time I'll post that one Birdfriend.

Many of the games back then seemed to be family oriented: Scrabble, Life, Monopoly, Risk, Trivial Pursuit,...

G.E. buddies: This isn't exactly a 'remember when' thing, but just wanted to share that if you don't see me posting on this thread for a few weeks...you will know it is because I have hit the road...going north to our spring and summer home in the great woods of the Pacific NW. See my character who is more ready for this than I am...Meanwhile, please say a little prayer for our safety, if you will. I am packing the laptop and not planning to use it until we get home.

This thread is very enjoyable and I'll miss our good times and laughs...

Meanwhile, Larry has agreed to check in from time to time and keep things going. So keep right on posting. I'll look forward to reading all your memories, etc..when I get back online.

Thanks, Larry.

God bless you each and every one!

Birdfriend I am grateful for this great thread that gives us a look back into the things that meant so much to us. I hope and pray that you have a wonderful and safe trip. You will be missed here.

Hoping to hear more of the things that we all enjoyed so many years ago...well maybe not so many years ago!

God Bless You,
Larry

My grandkids like scrabble. My old set is pretty pitiful looking but we still have fun with it.

this may sound gross  but I remember outhouses :help:
Someone else might have posted it, I didn't go back through all the posts. :D

I do too. When we visited my Grand-dad's house we bathed in a big wash tub, too. When it was time to fix dinner we went down into the root cellar to get potatoes, onions and if we were lucky apples from the last season. I can still remember the smell of the earth in that old root cellar.:D

Yep, a house with a bath and a path sure brings back fond memories. I can remember that we had quilts layered about 3 or 4 inches thick and really hated to be the first one out and downstairs to the pot bellied stove in the brisk coolness of the winter mornings.
