  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Do you hate full time WORK?

Full time work isn't as bad as it seems, the Lord has really blessed me in my job and given me the hours of 7am-3.30pm which is great, it still gives me the opportunity to get to banks etc. which shut at 4.30pm. Also it gives me time to do things in the afternoon still. Sure enough work is challenging... it's quite a worldy environment however I look at it as a growing test, it constantly tests my beliefs and the strengths of my convictions, really keeps me thinking about my faith.

It's better than being unemployed. Since I have been at my job for a period of time, I get a minimum of 40 hrs. and work during the day!!! Every job has its pros & cons. The cons of my job is that I have to work weekends, including Sundays and there never seems to be enough help.

if you ask for Sunday off because of your religious beliefs they can't say no.

Yup-- I ask for sundays off to go to church, or I switch around because there are saturday services where I go. It was always nice to not have to take off work during Lent because of the Lenten weekday services. But most people respect religious preferences and work schedules.

One thing I've learned about myself is that I could never have a job that drains any "fun" out of my life. My gf's parents have desk jobs that they HATE and have hated their entire lifes... the last thing on earth I want is to be like that.

I thank God every morning on the way to work that I get to do something I LOVE, and that is work with airplanes all day. If I'm not washing them inside and out, I'm helping maintain them, and if I'm not doing that, I'm chatting it up with customers as I refuel/oil their airplanes prior to flight. It's so great. Today I 1)closed access panels and installed interior in the plane I fly, 2) waxed/washed three rotor blades for a helicopter, 3)assisted an oil change, 4) ran-up afterwords to check for oil leaks, 5) got to do a "hot-fuel" for a Cessna Caravan full of skydivers, 6) chat with other student pilots.

Other than that I look forward to every day at work... and the amazing thing is that in just about one year I'll be working at the same place, but as a certified flight instructor.

And also, I am in the (very slow) process of opening my own aviation photography business.

Remember people- this life is not our life. We are God's property and He gave us freewill because He loves us and not for us to roam wherever we please.

People in other countries have to work in horrible conditions. And what do us Americans have- mostly sitting in front of a computer screen or working with people. WE HAVE IT GOOD!

The only dream worth having is making sure we are pleasing God enough. And most especially NOT ourselves.

I'd like full time work a lot more if it was intellectually engaging, and my coworkers were more pleasant. There are jobs like this out there. If we try, we just might find ourselves there some day. At least, that's what I keep telling myself. :)

The only time when I feel like I'm contributing to society is when I'm creatively working on something new, and/or discovering the solution to a new problem. Moreso when I am the one in charge of seeing the project to completion. In fact, that's what I do in my free time. I deeply resent having to organize file cabinets (or schedules, or whatever) for folks in management... they'd rather be out playing golf with their buddies instead doing something innovative or novel. Why am I the one working for them? grrr

Of course, it helps to remember that I am serving the Lord through whatever work I do. Then the anger melts away, leaving me numb... but hopeful that tomorrow may be better than today. :prayer:

I work a full time job and I have three kids. I stayed home with my first 2, but I am glad to get back to work. It keeps me busy all day and it also helps bring in extra income. I need to keep myself busy and work does that. I do have a high stress job at times, but I keep a daily calendar with Bible quotes on my desk to remind me of why I do it. I am reminded daily that God places us in these places for a reason. I am able to share Him with many people. This helps me through the tough days.
