Religion has it's value, but it's value is largely personal. As far as the entity itself it's existence (it's real existence, outside of the mind of any believer) is unlikely and unproven.

Science and faith were never meant to be separated - except for One like God, who is all-knowing (omniSCIENCE.) Science is Latin for knowledge. Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. So, an example of science (knowledge) would be that you see that you have five fingers on each hand. Faith would be hoping that your boss will pay you on Friday, and believing it even though you have no proof s/he will do so. For creatures that are not omniscient, faith fills the holes in one's science (knowledge.) They are two sides of the same coin.
