I agree! Our focus is to be on the epistles in relation to how Christians live and the power God has given them in Christ, against the wiles of the devil. The Lord reminds us not to rejoice because the demons are subject to us, but to rejoice because our names are written in heaven.
The strongest offense against the kingdom of darkness is faith in Christ who has vanquished and destroyed death, hell, and the devil.
I consider most "deliverance ministries" to be at best an act of religious theater with charlatanism thrown in; and at worst a glorification of the demonic by presenting the devil and his demons as though they posed a legitimate threat to the kingdom of God.
St. James tells you, "Resist the devil and he will flee."
We are talking about a cowardly, defeated, toothless snake. If the devil starts lying, call him a liar to his face. Jesus Christ is Lord.
Sensationalizing, dramatizing, and using the demonic to manipulate people with fear, superstition, and dread is not working in opposition to the things of the devil, but working in cooperation with the devil.
The devil wants you to be afraid.
The devil wants you to fear and tremble and think he is something worth fearing.
He's not.
The devil is an old sad snake that Jesus has trampled underfoot, crushing, and has left naked and tied up under the beaten down, broken doors of hell.
Jesus Christ is Lord.
And one little word of truth is enough to disarm an army of demons.
Why are there so many groups of Christians out here trying to change the focus from Jesus Christ and His Gospel to "spiritual warfare" nonsense?

We are told we wrestle not with flesh and blood, but with principalities and powers, against the rulers of darkness, spiritual wickedness, in high places. These are attacks against Christians from other people who are influenced by the rulers of darkness. This is why it’s not flesh and blood we are dealing with. This is why we are told to love our enemies. Because the flesh and blood people who are influenced by Satan are capable of being forgiven by God just as we are forgiven by God. So our wrestling is with the principalities and powers influencing them.
Jesus casted out devils, I don’t see the word demon in the KJV. But just think about what was taking place when Jesus casted out devils. Jesus was showing His Power over the forces of darkness while on earth. At that time Jesus had not died on the cross. However, after Jesus died and rose, the epistles show Jesus still have Power over devils, as he spoiled principalities and powers and made a show of them openly.
So the Power to cast out devils belong to Christ, before His death under the Old Testament and after His death under the New Testament.
To cast out devils under the Old Testament is not the same under the New Testament. We under the New Testament have received Power over the devil by faith by the Holy Spirit. The problem is we look away from the truth of the gospel, and follow these deliverance ministries that’s not based on what the gospel say at all.
Take depression for example. People say that depression is an evil spirit. But, depression is a misguided way of seeing things based on many factors, and most depression is due to having been abused or treated unimportant in life.
We all suffer from some sort of residual affect of abuse: from society, family, work life, spouse, etc., and some with a greater degree than others.
What I have learned is we don’t recognize the power of the gospel of Gods unto salvation. This salvation is not just to inherit the kingdom, but salvation now in dealing with all manners of situations. Salvation is based on faith! It’s not a demon in a person, it’s our wrong belief that the harm caused us by others has some power over us. Yes, satan wants to destroy Christians, and the way he attacks us is through people.
We must remove our focus from people and know their actions are based on Satan’s influence, and then we can stand because we know that Satan has already been defeated in Christ Jesus. We look to the guidance of the Holy Spirit. But this is not easy, so we ask God to renew our minds based on His gospel.
