CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

There's no archaeological evidence of anything beyond hunter-gatherer civilization there. It's also much larger than what Plato described.
That just means you saw something you couldn't identify.
Your memory isn't perfect whether you realize it or not.
You seem like the kind of guy to believe in any kind of conspiracy theory or outlandish claim that you hear. Do you think the earth is hollow or flat?

His explanation for misremembering seems to be that his memory is actually correct every time, but he must have crossed to a parallel universe which is different in just that respect, 'like in Star Trek' (!). IOW, the multiverse conspires to falsify his 'photographic' memory...

Plato doesn't quote him saying that; in 'Apology', he says, "I neither know nor think that I know"; this is referring to things he doesn't know. IOW, he admits ignorance of things he doesn't know. It's almost a theme in Plato's writings.
Oh I have - I took a whole course on Plato.
But I already understood that we cannot know anything with certainty - I learned that part of the scientific tradition at school, and I learned to accept uncertainty and not knowing when I started scientific work.
