The people that think there is an error in the Bible never read the Bible. They do not like second hand clothing, but they do not mind second hand opinions. The people who spend their whole life to study the Bible do not find any errors. (NOTE: I do not say this to offend anyone, it is just a figure of speech, a teaching aid to get a point across)

Wrong on two counts here. Im not talking about an error with that pi thing, Im talking about an approximation.

And I have read the whole thing thru twice as well as going back and reading selected passages.

Now, how about you quit pointing fingers and making up things (tsk tsk) about people you dont know and deal with the actual situation here.

the numbers are approximate. Why cant you just accept reality when its staring you in the face?

this seeming inability of theists says things about being a theist that i dont want for myself.

Proven in the sense that you do not know for certain.
What I mean is, science doesn't allow for absolute certainty. Theory is one of the highest degree of proof in science, science just knows that humans (please, please don't interject God here) can only know so much, and nothing can be known for certain.

So by that standard I would say you have the wrong definition.

In that case, Jesus is but a theoretical figure.
Jesus doesn't explain something, so he isn't a theory. I don't think theoretical is something science applies to something that isn't a theory, but regardless Biblical Jesus wouldn't even be able to touch "theory" in scientific standards.

Damn, you're on top of your semantics.

Not really, I've just been through this before. While I was posting I thought, if I say Jesus doesn't approach theory, then he'll say he was just theoretical. Which I don't think is a scientific standard. So I hesitated to say that. I have a bad habit of preempting arguments, whether they exist or not.

An idea that has not been proven.

No.

No, no, no, no, no, no, no.

Just no.

Serious fail, right there. You don't know what a scientific theory is.

A scientific theory is the best explanation science currently has to explain a set of facts or laws. It's the highest point an "idea" can reach, and has gone way, way, way beyond being proven, as far as what evidence we have available, a scientific theory is proven beyond all reasonable doubt.

Would you say germ theory was "An idea that has not been proven."?

This is only until they are proven to be false beyond all reasonable doubt.

What I mean is, science doesn't allow for absolute certainty.
No kidding.
Theory is one of the highest degree of proof in science, science just knows that humans...can only know so much, and nothing can be known for certain.
Then science can take a hike.

Doveman is purposely baiting. I will ignore him from now on as we all know where baiting leads to if one takes the bait!
You have to see it the way I see it from my side of the fence.

I’m told that theories that are proven to be true beyond all reasonable doubt are often proven to be false beyond all reasonable doubt.

I’m also told that science doesn't allow for absolute certainty and nothing can be known for certain.

Therefore, I have no reason to take you guys seriously.
