Alright, so as we have all noticed, Im not the best at thinking up thread titles... but anyways, it must have worked, because it got you in here, and reading this :p

hahaha I crack myself up sometimes...... anyways

So a discussion we were having in the DMB thread got me thinking, about how I introduced KJ to the band, and what songs I sent him first to start off.

Soo... do you have a friend, or maybe even someone on CF who introduced you to a band, that is now one of your favs... or someone you listen to frequently?

I will start, FatBurger sent me a Guster song, And that got me hooked, andn ow I love them, and really see them as one of my favs bands....

Ok your turn. I will post more later, but I want to hear from you first

My dad told me I just had to listen to Modest Mouse. He let me listen to "Good news for people who love bad news" I love it, and now listen to them all the time.
My dad also got me into Nickel Creek and Allison Krauss
My brother got me into DMB, by growing annoyed with them, which resulted in me getting his Dmb cds and listening to songs other than Crash into me.(Ok I admit, I was obsessed with this song. But it never was "our" song ;) )

My friend Chris got me into Phish. I used to hate them, then we went on a road trip to Burlington, VT (the home of Phish) and he played "A Live One" on the way up. When we got back he gave me a tape of disc 2 (Harry Hood, Tweezer, Simple, Squirming Coil, Wilson) and I was hooked!!!

Nadroj sort of got me into "Neutral Milk Hotel," I'm not totally into them but I do listen to "In the Aeroplane Over the Sea" all the time!

My DMB thread friends got me back into DMB after I'd "fallen away" for about 3 or 4 years :) ;)

My two roommates have introduced me to more bands than I feel like listing out. I wasn't allowed to listen to non-Christian music growing up, so once I moved out on my own, I had a lot of catching up to do.

Course, I'm also stubborn, so there are lots of bands that they haven't been able to get me to like :p

i used to be into stuff like slipknot and linkin park.

then a friend of mine asked me if i had heard of Arch Enemy, i said no and he gave me a listen. When i first heard the growling vocals i was kinda disinterested, but when i heard the excellent guitar and drum work i was hooked, was more is that the lead singer is a chick!! ack! but anyway, he got me hooked on a band called Children of Bodom, great band as well. So yeah, this guy basically got me into death and black metal, which also inspired me to play bass and guitar. ...now i think slipknot is untaltented and linkin park is gay

My dad got me into older rock bands like Ted Nugent and AC/DC. I listened when I was a kid and for some reason I never really got into them, then one day when we left to go hunting, we listened to AC/DC and I loved it. (mostly I like their first singer. I think their second singer was named Angus, he was OK, but I never really listened to any of his songs).

Then I have a friend who doesn't like Tool, but listens to Modest Mouse all the time. I never really liked MM, but I love Tool. Since we hung out a lot I had to listen to MM alot and he started listening to Tool alot. Eventually we both started liking MM and Tool a lot. So I guess we both did each other a favor.

I also got another friend (my ex girlfriend actually) who got me hooked on Psytrance and Ambient-style music. Since I never had a car and she lived right down the street, I always got rides from her to school and whatnot. Every day she listened to Infected Mushroom and Akasha Project while driving us to school, and after listening to Converting Vegetarians for the 200th time, I decided to go out and buy it for myself, and now I like it more than I like Tool.
