No, I am not open to false teachings when the Word of God is pure......
Obvious evasion. Do you really believe readers will not realize that you are avoiding a perfectly legitimate question? And what will such readers conclude?

They will, I suggest conclude this: that you cannot even allow for the logical possibility that you are mistaken because you know the scriptural evidence is not there to support your position.

I, of course, will fully concede that is conceivable that the 10 are still in force. I just don't think the evidence shows that this is the case.

Because we don't ignore the teachings, we discern how they apply to us today.

Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
KJV

Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a worker who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth. NASB

2 Timothy 2:15 - Bible Gateway

If the scriptures can be rightly divided and accurately handled, they can also be mishandled.

A concrete example:
Are you familiar with the passage where Jesus tells his followers to buy a sword?

I don't think you're following the conversation or following what I am saying. God created the law, so it is up to God, not man on which laws to obey. God wrote the Ten Commandments Exodus 20, they are not multiple choice. You break one of the commandments, you break them all. James 2:10-12. Jesus tells us to keep the least of the commandments quoting directly from the Ten. Matthew 5:17-30

You keep giving your opinion that is not supported by the scriptures nor does your opinion actually address the scriptures I have posted. I will continue to stick with the scriptures and if you feel you don't need to keep the commandments of God and teach other they don’t have to either, it will be between you and God. I wish you the best in seeking Truth from the scriptures. God bless and take care.

SB, why do you use "you" in place of "we"? Jesus is the only one not guilty. It seems like SDAs love to tell others we are guilty of sin because we do not keep the Sabbath that was given only to one nation under the sun. and that nation was not a bunch of Gentiles. Any ritual command, like the Sabbath command, was specifically for the nation of Israel which by the way is now defunct. All mankind is now subject to the new and better covenant, the covenant of love. Love is what is written on the hearts of those that Love Jesus and their fellow man.

It is another outrageous falsehood to assert that I have claimed that we do not need to keep any laws.

Plus I don't see any explanation here as to why are misrepresenting us.

You know that I, and perhaps others, have repeatedly declared the rather obvious truth the indwelling Spirit has the capability to tells us what is right and what is wrong.

You know that Paul believes that we can have an "instinctive" knowledge of the Law: For when Gentiles who do not have the Law instinctively perform the requirements of the Law, these, though not having the Law, are a law to themselves, 15 in that they show the work of the Law written in their hearts, their conscience testifying and their thoughts alternately accusing or else defending them

And you know that Paul directly asserts that the Spirit, and not the Law, is the basis of how are to live: But now we have been released from the Law, having died to that by which we were bound, so that we serve in newness of the Spirit and not in oldness of the letter.

You know all these things. And you repeatedly trot out this falsehood that we are saying it is acceptable to commit murder, lie, and steal.

I just ask you to consider what a neutral reader would conclude from all this.

Hey Leaf, I was just thinking that if one is truly in the love of Christ, that takes us far beyond written commandments, rules or law. They may be needed guidelines for many transitioning from a chaotic life to one with a little more structured morality. Such was the case with the early Hebrews. But once the values are internalized one begins to see far more opportunities to "love one another" then any list of 10 or even 600 could possibly capture.

I just ask you to consider what a neutral reader would conclude from all this.
A neutral reader might conclude there there is a bank of stock SDA talking points that are brought out over and over again regardless of the questions raised or appropriateness of the point.

Absolutely! And that's the parable of the good Samaritan, isn't it?

The Samaritan had internalized the law, though he actually would not have been able to keep the letters of many of the laws at that time, since he hadn't converted to Judaism.

When I say "you" I mean everyone myself included. I am referring to the Ten Commandments and of course the Sabbath is included in that and God doesn't not want us to "forget" the one commandment that He told us to "remember". I am going with God on this and not the teachings of man that lead people to break one of the commandments of God.

God tells us right in the Ten Commandments- showing mercy to thousands to those who love Me and keep My commandments Exodus 20:6

Jesus repeats verbatim- If you love Me, keep My commandments John 14:15

For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. 1 John 5:3

Love and keeping the commandments seem to go hand in hand according to the clear Word of God.

If love is keeping the commandments of God, what is the opposite of not keeping them?

If you know what the other laws are, please talk about the scripture passages where they are found. Or if you just want to start by saying about how many laws you keep today, that would be great!
Brother, I finally see an answer to your question. The other laws besides the 10 commandments were not mandatory for your salvation before Jesus, as He says below. However, that is no longer the case after Jesus, because the 11th commandment makes Jesus our example, obeying all the laws that God gave His people. Jesus only corrected their human laws, such as their human traditions about God's Sabbath. All the laws that Jesus obeyed are now included in what must be obeyed to be saved in the eleventh commandment.

Once a religious leader asked Jesus this question: “Good Teacher, what should I do to inherit eternal life?” “Why do you call me good?” Jesus asked him. “Only God is truly good. But to answer your question, you know the commandments: ‘You must not commit adultery. You must not murder. You must not steal. You must not testify falsely. Honor your father and mother.’” The man replied, “I’ve obeyed all these commandments since I was young.” When Jesus heard his answer, he said, “There is still one thing you haven’t done. Sell all your possessions and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.” (Luke 18:18-22 NLT)

Jesus' eleventh commandment now demands all of God's laws, making us full citizens of Israel. At work is the Holy Spirit to bring "Gentiles who are turning to God" into full citizens of Israel.

remember that at that time you were separate from Christ, excluded from citizenship in Israel and foreigners to the covenants of the promise, without hope and without God in the world. But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near by the blood of Christ... Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God’s people and also members of his household (Ephesians 2:12,13,19 NIV)

United in our hope for the soon return of Jesus, Jorge

Hi Jorge, good to see you again.
...obeying all the laws that God gave His people.
Can you give more details about that?

Also, are you saying that there are just 11 commandments that we are to keep today?

Hi Jorge, good to see you again. Can you give more details about that?
Brother, Jesus wants us to obey 11 commandments in the new covenant with the addition of "one thing you haven't done", which was not possible before Jesus, His "new commandment"!

Obedience to all the above 11 "commandments" is what shows God's love toward Him and others.

Those who accept my commandments and obey them are the ones who love me. And because they love me, my Father will love them. And I will love them and reveal myself to each of them. (John 14:21 NLT)
Also, are you saying that there are just 11 commandments that we are to keep today?
Yes, only 11 commandments according to Jesus, but that eleventh commandment includes a lot, because it makes Jesus an example to "follow".

So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.” (John 13:34-35 NLT)

United in our hope for the soon return of Jesus, Jorge

One of the central themes of the New Testament is that Jesus is inaugurating a new creation. Remember, Jesus rises on the 8th day, effectively the first day of a new week! God is echoing the Genesis pattern!
According to the scriptures, Jesus rose on the first day of the week (Mark 16:9). There are only seven days in a week not eight (Genesis 1:31 - Genesis 2:1-3).
Or is the fact that Jesus rises on the first day yet another coincidence, and not a message to us that God is undertaking a new creation and that the markers of the Old Covenant need to be set aside?
There is no scripture in all the bible that says Gods' 4th commandment of the 10 commandments has now been abolished and we are now commanded to keep Sunday as a holy day of rest. This is a man-made teaching and traditions that has led many away from God and His Word to break the commandments of God that Jesus warns us against in Matthew 15:3-9.
Why would we continue to honor the "old" creation?
According to the scriptures, God made the Sabbath for mankind so that mankind can enter into Gods' rest with God on the "seventh day of the week, when God rested from the finished work of creation and set aside the "seventh day" from all the other days of the seek and "blessed the "seventh day" and made it a "holy day of rest" *Mark 2:27; Genesis 2:1-3. Those who continue in unbelief and sin however do not enter into Gods' rest although the works of creation were finished from the foundation of the world. Hebrews 3:8-19; Hebrews 4:1-11. Those who believe and follow what Gods' Word says are commanded to "Remember the sabbath day to keep it holy in Gods' 4th commandment of the 10 commandments (Exodus 20:8-11) that give us the knowledge of what sin is when broken *Romans 3:20; Romans 7:7; 1 John 3:4. According to the scriptures if we break anyone of Gods' 10 commandments we stand guilty before God of sin *James 2:10-11 and if we continue in known unrepentant sin after God gives us a knowledge of the truth of His Word there remains no more sacrifice for sin but a fearful looking forward to of the judgement to come. It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God *see Acts of the Apostles 17:30-31; compare to Hebrews 10:26-31.

Take Care.

LoveGodsWord said: As shown from the post you are part quoting from the scriptures show that God's 4th commandment point backwards not forward
Your response...
I believe you are over-reaching - there is nothing in the 4th commandment that explicitly, or implicitly rules out the possibility that it may be later set aside.
According to the scriptures there are seven days in the creation week *Genesis 1:1-31 to Genesis 2:1-3. This is continued on a "seven day" continuous weekly cycle. Every "seventh day" is the Sabbath of the Lord your God *Exodus 20:10. On the "seventh day" of the creation week God rested from all the work that he had made and "blessed the seventh day" and set it apart from all the other days of the week and made it a "holy day" of rest for all mankind *Genesis 2:1-3; Mark 2:27 and commands us to keep the "seventh day" as a Holy day of rest not doing any work on His holy day. Those who have entered into God's rest cease from their work as God ceased from His *Hebrews 4:10.

GOD'S 4TH COMMANDMENT POINTS BACKWARD NOT FORWARD TO THINGS TO COME.

According to the scriptures God's 4th commandment of the 10 commandment says...

EXODUS 20:8-11
[8], REMEMBER THE SABBATH DAY, TO KEEP IT HOLY (points backwards to Genesis 2:1-3).
[9], Six days shalt thou labor, and do all thy work:
[10], But THE SEVENTH DAY IS THE SABBATH of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: <WHY>
[11], For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the SEVENTH DAY: wherefore the LORD BLESSED THE SABBATH, and HALLOWED IT (points backwards to Genesis 2:1-3)

TAKEN OUT OF THE SCRIPTURES
  1. The first word of the commandment is to "remember" - Exodus 20:8
  2. Gods' people are to "remember" - Exodus 20:8
  3. We are to "remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy - Exodus 20:8
  4. We can do all of our labor and work for six days of the week - Exodus 20:9
  5. The "seventh day" however is the Sabbath day - Exodus 20:10
  6. We are not to do any work on the Sabbath day - Exodus 20:10
  7. The reason why we are not to do any work is God blessed the "Sabbath day" - Exodus 20:11
............

Note
how Exodus 20:8 "Remember" and Exodus 20:11 God blessing the "seventh day" is pointing backwards to Genesis 2:1-3 where God "rested" (kept the Sabbath) from all His work of creation and "blessed the seventh day" for all mankind (Mark 2:27), while the reason for Gods' 4th commandment is given in Exodus 20:11 as to why we are to keep the Sabbath which is also pointing backwards to Genesis 2:1-3

"REMEMBER THE SABBATH DAY" - EXODUS 20:8 MEANING

"REMEMBER"

Hebrew

זָכַר verb to do to recall to mind and think of something from the past (pointing backwards), remember or recall a specific command; to keep in mind; to make a memorial

English

Remember verb; 1 : to bring to mind or think of again remembers the old days (pointing backwards). 2 archaic. a : bethink sense 1b. b : remind
Note: The Hebrew and English words are very similar. The meaning of the Hebrew and English word "remember" means to bring to mind or recall something that has happened in the past and to make a memorial, that is bring to mind. Again it is a verb of doing or to bring to mind the Sabbath of creation so it points backwards to the finished work of creation in Genesis 2:1-3 every "seventh day" of the week.
LoveGodsWord said: the Sabbath was made before sin not after sin.
Your response here..
Please explain to us why this means that God cannot elect to "retire" the Sabbath as His plan for redemption unfolds.
According to the scriptures all the Mosaic shadow laws that point to Jesus as the coming Savior from sin were made and given to mankind after the sin had entered into the world and after the fall of mankind. There was no "shadow laws" before sin and the Sabbath was made before sin when mankind was sinless. There is no need for "shadow laws" pointing to Jesus as the coming Savior from sin when there is no sin because there is nothing that the sinless need saving from (Genesis 1:26-31; Genesis 2:1-3).
LoveGodsWord said: It points back to Genesis 2:1-3 and the finished work of creation to the "seventh day" of the week that God blessed and made a holy day of rest of all mankind.
Your response here...
Finished work? Surely Scripture teaches us that God continued, and even now continues, to work in the world to redeem it.
According to the scriptures Gods' work of creation was finished in six days where he rested on the "seventh day" of the week and made the "seventh day" of the week a memorial of creation. Let the scriptures answer your question...

Genesis 2:1-3
[1], Thus the heavens and the earth were FINISHED, and all the host of them.
[2], And on the seventh day God ENDED HIS WORK which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made (past tense).
[3], And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it:
because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.

Note: Gods' words when God rested on the "seventh day" of the week it is a part of the finished work of creation where God rested on the "seventh day" where he ended His Word he had made. At this time he "blessed and made the seventh day a holy day of rest" for all mankind - Mark 2:27.
If God's work was really finished on the 7th day, then you have to believe it is a massive coincidence that Jesus rises on the 1st day of a new week! To the Biblically literate Jew, this is a marker of, you guessed it, new creation.
According to Paul only Gods' Word is true and we should believe and follow them (Romans 3:4, and according to Peter and Jesus we ought to believe and obey Gods' Word over the teachings and traditions of men that lead us away from Gods' Word to break the commandments of God *Acts of the Apostles 5:29; Matthew 15:3-9.

Take Care.

I must disagree that "the Sabbath doe not look forward". It obviously does. I am sorry you cannot see that in Christ.
Hi AS nice to see you again .

For me I believe what the scriptures teach and I think you do as well because we both love God and want to follow Him who loves us and washed us in His own blood, that Gods Sabbath commandment starts off with the first word of the commandment being "Remember". Being such the word "Remember" therefore is a "memorial" law pointing backwards to the "seventh day" of the creation week. Gods' 4th commandments starts off "Remember" the Sabbath day *Exodus 20:8 meaning it points backwards and we are to Remember or to recall or bring to mind something that has happened in the past, in context to the "Sabbath" first being kept by God at creation when He "rested" from all His works in the finished work of creation before sin entered into the world. This is re-emphasized in Exodus 20:11 which points us back to Genesis 2:1-3 (see Exodus 20:8 compare Exodus 20:11 which points back to Genesis 2:1-3). Gods' 4th commandment is one of Gods' 10 commandments that are Gods eternal laws which will be continued to be kept by God's people in the new earth (Isaiah 66:22-23) that in the new testament (covenant) give us the knowledge of good (moral right doing when obeyed) and evil (moral wrong doing when disobeyed); sin (moral wrong doing when disobeyed) and righteousness (moral right doing when obeyed) *Romans 3:20; Romans 7:7; 1 John 3:4. God's 10 commandments of course, include God's 4th commandment "seventh day Sabbath". All of God's 10 commandments according to the scriptures, show us our duty of love and how to love God (first four commandments *Exodus 20:3-11) and love to our fellow man (second six commandments *Exodus 20:12-17) see and compare Matthew 22:36-40 with Deuteronomy 6:5; Leviticus 19:18; Romans 13:8-10; James 2:8-12; 1 John 5:2-3.
If you are doubting what you believe it might be a sign that Gods' Spirit is speaking with you through His Word. Thank you for the scriptures you provide here I love them all but not sure exactly why you have provided them. When I posted earlier from the scriptures that "there was only sinless Adam and Eve when God made the Sabbath for mankind...who were without sin and in no need of shadow laws of things to come pointing forward to the promised Savior from sin because the Sabbath was made when mankind was sinless. The Mosaic "shadow laws" were only given after the fall (sin) of mankind not before sin when the Sabbath was made for man." This is only taken from the scriptures. It's implication is that because the Sabbath was made before sin it cannot be a "shadow law" of anything under the Mosaic "shadow laws" like circumcision, or the earthly Sanctuary laws and Priesthood, and the shadow laws for animal sacrifices and sin offerings or the ceremonial sabbaths in the annual Feast days etc which are all linked to the old covenant "shadow laws" for remission of sins. This is because all of these "shadow laws" pointing to Jesus as the coming Saviour from sin, were needed and came after sin and the fall of mankind. There were not needed when there was no sin and mankind had not fallen into sin and this is when the Sabbath was made for all mankind. So the Sabbath cannot be a "shadow law because there was no sin for the Sabbath to be a shadow over. The creation Sabbath of Gods' 4th commandment came before sin and the fall of mankind when there was no need for "shadow laws" of things to come and points backward to the finished work of creation as a memorial of God as our creator of all things in Heaven and earth.

May God bless you as you seek Him through His Word.

You seemed to have missed my point that the Sabbath was not a command, instruction or law for Adam. That is why I listed the commands that can be found.

Hi AS. I understood what you said earlier. I think what you have missed from the scriptures already shared with you though is that there was no need for the shadow commands given after the fall when there was no sin and mankind was in perfect harmony with God through obedience to His Word. The commandments came only latter when mankind sinned and received a knowledge of good and evil (Genesis 3:22). When mankind was sinless, they automatically obeyed God because they loved God. - see 1 John 5:2-3; John 14:15; 1 John 2:3-4; compare Exodus 20:6. After the fall we became trapped in sin and why we need a Savior from sin. This is outlined in Gods plan of salvation for all mankind and the Mosiac "shadow laws" pointing to the coming of Jesus to save us from our sins. When the Sabbath was made there was no sin or "shadow laws" because they were not needed because mankind was sinless and loved God and obeyed Him from the heart. The Sabbath was made for mankind when man loved God. The Sabbath became a commandments after the fall when mankind sinned and lost his love for God.

Scripture tells us that there were commands prior to the fall and keeping Sabbath was not one of them.
Genesis 1:28 God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.”

Genesis 1:29 Then God said, “I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. 30 And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds in the sky and all the creatures that move along the ground—everything that has the breath of life in it—I give every green plant for food.” And it was so.

Genesis 2:15 The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it. And the Lord God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; 17 but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die.”

Genesis 2:24 That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh.

Hello AS. Perhaps I should have made my last post a little more detailed and clear so there was no room for misunderstandings but I thought there was no need because of what has been consistently posted and shared through the scriptures about the shadow laws being only given after the fall of mankind. I will edit my last post to reflect specifically what commands I am talking about here. So I agree with you and with the scriptures you have posted here that God gave commands of instructions to Adam and Eve as you have shown above and have never argued against these. Even the command not to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil was a command from God before the fall. However I am not talking about commands of instruction given before sin but the commands of instruction given after mankind sinned, specifically all the commands and laws for the remission of sins that were given after the fall of mankind (sin) that is, the "shadow laws" given to mankind as a part of God's plan for the salvation from sin in order to receive Gods' forgiveness of sin that pointed to things to come in Christ. None of these laws and commands were given when God made the Sabbath for all mankind on the seventh day of the creation week *Mark 2:27; Genesis 2:1-3 because there was no sin. You understand this right? What this means is that the Sabbath cannot be a "shadow law" because there was no sin. What your posting about here has nothing to do with what I have been talking to you about earlier from the scriptures in my posts to you. Genuine question. What do you think my earlier posts to you were saying and what my argument is? I am just trying to see where there may be or may not be any misunderstanding or perhaps something I may have written in a way that you may not have understood, probably because of my poor writing skills.
