I feel all these demon/devil threads open the door for bad things. I feel even asking about them out of genuine curiosity can be harmful. I don't think there should be a rule against it, as what if someone had real problems with them and needed help, I'm just saying. I created one of these threads myself, but that was before I knew better.

It might be dangerous for people who are not Christians.. But fr Christians who are indwelled by the Holy Spirit it is not dangerous.. The Holy Spirit will never allow a demon to enter into His Temple.. Christians are temples of the Holy Spirit..

Talking about demons is like talking about corrupt politicians in a 3rd world country.

Bad things may happen to you.

But if you talk about corrupt politicians is a more civilized western country, the worst thing that could happen is a few people starting to dislike you.

It depends on what you believe. If you place high value on your own life and money, then you shouldn't touch the subject of demons. If you place little value on money and your own life then you can safely know more about demons.

Why is that? Because there are demons that are already residing in our bodies.

Can you provide Biblical evidence that Christians can't be oppressed by demons?

My stance is that demons cannot Possess a Christian because the Holy Spirit occupies us already.. For a demon to possess us the Holy Spirit would have to agree to share us with a demon.. If you really think the Holy Spirit would live in the same body as a demon then i don't think i can say anything more...

Take note of the adage: Know your enemy.

Now the place to learn what we need to know about Satan is the Bible. We should not learn his practices as in what the occult do to follow Satan. We should learn that Satan is a powerful enemy and we should learn his tricks used against us.

2 Corinthians 2:11 in order that Satan might not outwit us. For we are not unaware of his schemes.
2 Corinthians 11:14 And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light.

As for stories of demon possession, I have heard them and they are just as frightening as the movie The Exorcist. I believe that demons continue to possess people and that the Church has a role to cast the demons out of people. This is not for the faint of heart or the weak in spirit so if you think you are not ready for such a topic, then stay away from it.

As for your concern about being possessed against your will, understand that what Satan does to us is limited by God's authority as Job 1 and 2 teaches. Also study Luke 11:17-26 to see that spiritual kingdoms, each person's soul can not be divided between two, God and Satan. God is stronger than any in the analogy. Satan can not cast out God's Spirit dwelling in the soul of one. God can cast out the demons in people because he is stronger.

Now the warning.
Matthew 7:22 Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’23 Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’

Satan can enter people in the church.
John 13:27 As soon as Judas took the bread, Satan entered into him. So Jesus told him, “What you are about to do, do quickly.”
Acts 5:3 Then Peter said, “Ananias, how is it that Satan has so filled your heart that you have lied to the Holy Spirit and have kept for yourself some of the money you received for the land?

But, Satan can only enter one that has a heart devoted to Satan and not God.

I think a key word here is oppressed, not possessed. Generally if you are living a good life, you will probably never get possessed. You probably have as good of odds as being hit by an ice cream truck.

Now a much greater and more common worry, is oppressed.

Christians are oppressed by Satan. Expect it.
Others are possessed by Satan. Fear those but don't worry it might come to you.

The difference being where your heart is and where the harm is.
Christians receive worldly harm because their heart is with God.
Others possessed by Satan might receive worldly benefits because their heart is with Satan, but they will get spiritual harm.

Paul wrote both Romans 8:38 and
2 Corinthians 12:7 or because of these surpassingly great revelations. Therefore, in order to keep me from becoming conceited, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me.

Researching demons cannot invite them in because research and enquiry are not sins. But continued involvement in the works of the flesh as described in Galatians 5, and experimentation and involvement in the occult can invite them in because then one would be putting garbage in their lives that demons feed on. If we continue walking in the light with Jesus, then the devil and his demons cannot come near us. Just saying to a demon, "I am a child of God and you cannot come near me!" is resisting the devil and he or a demon has to flee from you.

There is an example of a woman who was confronted by a mugger threatening her with a knife. She was a committed Christian. She cried out to him, "I am a child of God and the devil cannot come near me!" The mugger said, "Okay then." and walked away from her. Of course, one wouldn't want to depend on it, but it happened that time.

A Christian believer cannot be possessed with a demon because the Holy Spirit is already indwelling. But he or she can be obsessed or oppressed because of garbage in the person's life that keeps them there feeding on it. Good counselling gets rid of the garbage and then the demon departs much more easily.

When Born into Christ Jesus and you receive His Holy Spirit, The Flesh will make war against His all consuming Eternal Loving Holy Spirit, The Holy Spirit will remind the flesh of The Word of God and will subdue the flesh to do God's will on earth as it is in Heaven.

The enemy studies God's children and will make war with them, and the Holy Spirit endures with the Child until the end of his flesh. The final moment of surrender, to the all consuming Eternal Loving Will of Our Father who's will be done, forever Amen.

It all depends what you believe. If you believe what Jesus said about believers having all power to step on snakes and scorpions (which is His allusion to demons) and that when we resist the devil he has to flee from us, then demons should not be a threat at all. But if you think that demons are a threat to you, that may be a deceiving lying spirit getting into your mind to cause you to believe stuff contrary to what the Bible teaches you about demons. Smith Wigglesworth the famous healing evangelist of the early 20th Century woke up in the middle of the might and saw the devil standing at the foot of his bed. He said, "Oh, it is just you." and then turned over and went back to sleep. He believed the Bible and therefore even the presence of the devil himself was no threat to him at all.

I suggest you obtain Neil Anderson's book "The Bondage Breaker" and then go through his checklist on the areas that might have invited the demons to oppress you, and then renounce those things. Then the garbage that the demons are feeding on in you will no longer be there and you will find the oppression lift right away. Your experience tells me that you may have to renounce stuff in your life that makes the demons believe they have a right to continue oppressing you. Demons don't oppress me because I keep short accounts with God and I don't let garbage collect in my life, and because I know where I stand with Christ, I can say that I am a child of God and the devil can't come near me, and he keeps right away.

Is there anything in your life that is out of order? Not just in spiritual terms. For example, your house or room is a literal mess.

Such disorder of any kind attracts demons. Or anything that stinks or rots (I mean literally) you need to take it out. And personal hygiene and physical/mental health has a huge effect too. And I'm very very serious.

It was one time I'm experiencing paranormal events and nightmares. I cleaned up my room and the next moment, it's gone!

Almost every person I asked who is undergoing demonic oppression, I found a few things in their life that is hugely out of order.

I don't know what Apostle Paul meant about this. But I think many Christians got it wrong.

I actually think there's something wrong with people who practice, unintelligible babbling they call "speaking in tongues". Often when I encounter them, they can't seem to get near me. They seem to fear me somehow.

I sense something evil about it. If I am the one evil, why I'm not afraid of it at all but those who do it seem afraid of me and wants to avoid me?
