CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I'm not a big fan of cats, they're cool... but idk, I'd much rather have something unique like a ferret, a hedgehog, or a lizard of some sort

I think a HUGE deal breaker for me would be someone who doesn't respect my family. I mean I get that they don't have to agree with everything, but there is difference between being mature about it and just plain rude.

Gonna add single moms to that list for now, didn't think it'd matter until today.
Some woman was hitting on me at the bar earlier, was going good until her drunken friend blurted out that she had a kid. Surprisingly enough I'd never hit on one or been hit on by one before, so when it was happening I was cool on the outside but kinda freaked in my head at the thought of pursuing it. It has nothing to do with them, but I just cant do it right now.

Yeah, that one is tough for me too. There's a late-twenties young woman at my church that folks are gently pushing me towards. I hardly know anything about her. Her family has been in that church for a long time and from all accounts she's sweet, Christian, likeable enough. She can also stop traffic with her looks (in a good way).
However, she's recently divorced (from a bad guy, apparently) and has two kids. One is, interestingly, in the Children's Church class that I teach and is about 7. The other is 11 or so. I just... I don't think I could do that. Insta-families are hard. I myself come from a divorced family and my stepfather came into the picture when I was 12; married my mother when I was 15.
I don't know if I could do that, knowing that situation from my perspective.
I just... don't know.

Single parents is a big consideration, and while I am not opposed to parents dating and have dated single dads in the past; I don't think I would ever get involved with one again.
And if I had kids I believe I wouldn't date, at least not until they were much older. There is too many variables in raising kids as it is and life IMO is more about limiting issues to a reasonable amount. Dating is nothing but issues; more issues than most people want to deal with when single. At least in my experience anyway.

Someone who lacks loyalty (not just in terms of general fidelity, but also in regards to sticking up for me and not joining in when people put me down and stuff like that)
Someone controlling or excessively organised
Uninterested in sex or that I don't sense any attraction from her
Stupidity or irrationality
Obesity or excessively poor hygiene. I think sexual attraction for people does have more to do with personality and the general way someone carries h/herself, but there has to be a minimum threshold met physically for me to be attracted to someone.

They don't like or find the Bible interesting.
Don't know how to use money well, life is hard enough, thousands in credit card debt becuase they got to have it.

Sadly my deal-breaker list has become so long that I don't think any man in existence can pass it. (Well, except Jesus.) I really didn't mean it to become so darn long, but it did. And the majority aren't even silly, superficial preferences. It's all traits/habits that would result in me being absolutely miserable in a marriage.
