The local chapter of Black Lives Matter said it did not support painting the street and took a swipe at Bowser. “This is performative and a distraction from her active counter organizing to our demands to decrease the police budget and invest in the community,” it said on Twitter.

That would be interesting. They get angry on march on BLM plaza for not meeting their demands of defunding DC police.

For what? The mayor has the power to determine honorary street names and street art in Washington DC. Trump is not king and it is important he is reminded of that fact.

Not all of us are convinced he is capable of that - both because of the sentiment and the length and relative complexity of the statement.

The line between graffiti and street art can be thin at times but a distinguishing feature is graffiti isn’t done at the request of the mayor.

I lived in Washington, DC and it’s suburbs for 30 years. I did deliveries as a courier for a few months. I was delivering a parcel to the DC Lottery Commission in SE DC. I saw only African Americans in the building and no other races employed there. On the way back to my vehicle I passed two Black men standing on the side walk. One of them told me to get out of here.

You may want people to treat each other equally, but it may not happen in some cases. I have worked in integrated work places and can tolerate diversity. I do not expect to be treated fairly by all.
