It's not graffiti when the city does it.
Matter of opinion.

BLM is a hashtag and a movement, not an organization.

It’s a good idea, but I wonder if Marine One flies over that street. The one time I saw it landing, it approached from the south.

...well, I guess we know who owns the street.
It is an international organization. It is currently in operation all over Europe in tandem with what is going on here. BLM has its own flag, has structured leadership, organized chapters/sub grouping, logistics, resources, monetary funds... it is not just a grassroots gathering of random people following a tweet or hashtag.
D.C. mayor has huge 'Black Lives Matter' name painted on street leading to White House
On the one hand, BLM has a point when they say that such gestures are no substitute for actual policy changes,
On the other hand, it sends a message to Donald in no uncertain terms... while I cannot advise trying to out-petty Donald (he will always win such a contest), still...
Thoughts?
Because Trump has been outspoken that black lives don't matter? Oh, wait, no, he hasn't. That's just the imaginary Trump that the left created. The message this sends is a false accusation. Insulting? Heck, yeah, it is.
- while endearing herself to the left's narrative of the President - all while completely ignoring all the good that has been done for the black. I believe she is participating in nothing more than a publicity stunt.

*gasp* you mean...
A mayor endearing herself to the left's narrative in a left-leaning municipality? A politician participating in a publicity stunt?
Shocking! Utterly shocking! Fetch me my fainting couch!I think I'm gonna plotz!
So, why did she (the mayor) think it was necessary?
That's actually the central point of this action.
This was an act of jurisdictional dispute. Normally, when the White House intends to use DC streets for land movement of the president, they coordinate in advance with the city and it's the city's responsibility to clear the route.
That's a huge deal for the city, because it means traffic gets backed up, detour routes have to be determined, barriers have to be erected, police traffic directors have to be deployed. Having been a DC commuter for a few years, I know it's a tremendous headache. There's supposed to be coordination--the street belongs to the city.
That's a different thing from the city's police policies. In my 50+ years of driving in various states and countries, the only time I've been disrespected by police has been in Washington DC...and that was by black cops.

Where were these same commenters criticizing Trump for his publicity stunt in front of St John’s church?
At least the mayor of DC didn’t have a crowd of people attacked to accomplish her stunt.
glad it is being recognized for what it is. Nothing more than a publicity stunt.
