The Partial Preterist View

As a partial preterist I hold the view of an early date for John's Revelation. Perhaps 65 in the common era.

Internal evidences for this belief would include citations by John like the following:

"The revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show his servants what must soon take place" (Rev. 1:1 NIV). "Blessed is the one who reads the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near" (Rev. 1:3 NIV). or "Behold, I am coming soon! Blessed is he who keeps the words of the prophecy in this book" (Rev. 22:7 NIV).
These notations seem to indicate some important event that is at hand. I interpret that to be the destruction of Jerusalem. John seems to reserve his boldest statements regarding time for the opening and closing remarks. I find it significant that he demonstrates such an expectancy in his writing.

"I was given a reed like a measuring rod and was told, 'Go and measure the temple of God and the altar, and count the worshipers there'" (Rev. 11:1 NIV).
If John were writing about a literal Jerusalem some 25 years after its destruction, it would seem unusual for him to write as if the Temple were still standing as he does in 11:1.

"They are also seven kings. Five have fallen, one is, the other has not yet come; but when he does come, he must remain for a little while" (Rev. 17:10 NIV).
It seems that Nero Caesar is the sixth king if one counts Julius Caesar. Galba, Nero's successor, was a very short-lived successor.

So there are certainly some strong internal arguments to be made for an early date. Admittedly, such a dating can significantly influence one's theology. For instance, this dating buttresses my own convictions regarding eschatological issues, the role of miracles and signs, and the closing of the canon of scripture.

The Revelation was given so as to let us in on some stuff....some parts will come quickly when it is time for them, thus the entire Revelation was given.
Revelation
within it >>>>>>are things that will happen shortly
KJV Rev. 1
1"The Revelation of Jesus Christ.......to shew.......things which must shortly come to pass....."
>>>>>It does not mean that the entire Revelation is all due soon, just things within the Revelation.
We are given the whole Revelation so we will know when to expect the will happen fast parts.
Such as.......Rev. 11:14........the third woe cometh quickly.
Why say that if big deal -the whole Revelation was to be considered quickly?
Also, note that John will get a second vision time.....as in Rev. 4 he is in the spirit again.
See v 2.
The saints are shown reigning with Christ, either spiritually or in Heaven, NOT ON EARTH!!!!Christ is still in Heaven and they are either with Him up there, or in the Power of the Holy Spirit and reigning with Him. So again, no rapture of the church regardless and no EARTHLY REIGN OF CHRIST!!!!! God bless.:amen: :preach:

This is the harvest of the elect, the first resurrection!!!! This is before the wraths and not subject to the second death, which the ones that are being destroyed in the lake of fire are being subjected to!!!!.

reve 14:14 Then I looked, and behold, a white cloud, and on the cloud sat [One] like the Son of Man, having on His head a golden crown, and in His hand a sharp sickle. 15 And another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to Him who sat on the cloud, "Thrust in Your sickle and reap, for the time has come for You to reap, for the harvest of the earth is ripe." 16So He who sat on the cloud thrust in His sickle on the earth, and the earth was reaped.

The wraths and destruction of the wicked. These have already been judged at the white throne judgement, condmened and destroyed!!!!! These are the same ones being thrown into the lake of fire.

17 Then another angel came out of the temple which is in heaven, he also having a sharp sickle. 18 And another angel came out from the altar, who had power over fire, and he cried with a loud cry to him who had the sharp sickle, saying, "Thrust in your sharp sickle and gather the clusters of the vine of the earth, for her grapes are fully ripe." 19 So the angel thrust his sickle into the earth and gathered the vine of the earth, and threw [it] into the great winepress of the wrath of God. 20 And the winepress was trampled outside the city, and blood came out of the winepress, up to the horses' bridles, for one thousand six hundred furlongs.

Ezekiel 9:1 Then He called out in my hearing with a loud voice, saying, "Let those who have charge over the city draw near, each [with] a deadly weapon in his hand." 2 And suddenly six men came from the direction of the upper gate, which faces north, each with his battle-ax in his hand. One man among them [was] clothed with linen and had a writer's inkhorn at his side. They went in and stood beside the bronze altar. 3 Now the glory of the God of Israel had gone up from the cherub, where it had been, to the threshold of the temple. And He called to the man clothed with linen, who [had] the writer's inkhorn at his side; 4 and the LORD said to him, "Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and put a mark on the foreheads of the men who sigh and cry over all the abominations that are done within it." 5 To the others He said in my hearing, "Go after him through the city and kill; do not let your eye spare, nor have any pity. 6 "Utterly slay old [and] young men, maidens and little children and women; but do not come near anyone on whom [is] the mark; and begin at My sanctuary." So they began with the elders who [were] before the temple.
