Sorry, just trying to throw some humor into this thread. Obama said there were 57 once.
The flag of Hawaii. We have fought two bloody wars with Great Britain, yet the symbol of the bloody regime of King George III still adorns a state flag. Where is the outrage?
To be honest with you, I'm really starting to get tired of the blacks' constant whining. They don't own the country, they don't own our history, and, last time I checked, they're still in the minority.
Good. And good for Mississippi for standing up to these idiots.
I don't feel the confederate flag should be part of a state flag. That should be common sense, and should have drawed on people years ago. To me - its a respect thing. Deal with your heritage personally. You represent the entire state's population afterall
As Jews and gays, or any group the Nazis hurt, have a good reason to despise the Nazi flag and not want it to fly on government buildings, blacks also have a justified reason when it comes to the CSA flag.
I don't believe their "point of view" supersedes my history or my right to celebrate our history and our culture.
Good. And good for Mississippi for standing up to these idiots.

That is building one (Bldg.1) on the former US Navy Base of Treasure Island, San Francisco, CA. I worked there, as a Jew, with Nazi flags. Ironic.

And it always seems to exclude African Americans from celebrating that Southern pride. If it's simply regional, Southern heritage should not have a color, but apparently it does. While I have no problem with southerners celebrating their culture, some of them mix it up with idolizing the CSA. Taking one of the worst things about Southern past and making into something to be proud of.
It was for a movie, Indiana Jones and the final Crusade. It played the Berlin airport circa 1936. Still, we were inside during filming.2nd picture doesn't look like 1989. Those cars look far older then that year.
Ah, ok thanks. It was for a movie, Indiana Jones and the final Crusade. It played the Berlin airport circa 1936. Still, we were inside during filming.
Are you a time traveler? I think you traveled back in time with a camera from 1989 and took that picture, it's a timestamp, right?!It was for a movie, Indiana Jones and the final Crusade. It played the Berlin airport circa 1936. Still, we were inside during filming.

There you go getting my hopes up, I was hoping to ask you about the flux capacitor. The picture is from the internet, but I was there when they shot the scene.
In my case, I had family that fought for the CSA. So I honor my ancestors. We still decorate the graves of CSA vets, too. We have over a hundred of them in the local cemetary. What is there about the Confederacy to celebrate?
Or are you referring just to Southern culture?

Minority yes, but there is still a large population of blacks in that state.
To be honest with you, I'm really starting to get tired of the blacks' constant whining. They don't own the country, they don't own our history, and, last time I checked, they're still in the minority.
Look at it from their eyes.
A flag created by people long ago who were trying to maintain freedom. A flag that still had a racist history toward people of dark skin even after the war.
As Jews and gays, or any group the Nazis hurt, have a good reason to despise the Nazi flag and not want it to fly on government buildings, blacks also have a justified reason when it comes to the CSA flag.
Btw, do you ever think about what black people on this site would think about your avatar picture?
Does honoring your ancestors necessitate celebrating the Confederacy? In my case, I had family that fought for the CSA. So I honor my ancestors. We still decorate the graves of CSA vets, too. We have over a hundred of them in the local cemetary.
To a point. Just as I celebrate the USA that my grandpa bled for in Korea, or my uncles did in WW2.Does honoring your ancestors necessitate celebrating the Confederacy?

You said "South Bound",
"If blacks are really so stupid that they think the Confederate flag is analogous to the Nazi flag, then they're too stupid for me to take their opinion seriously."
But there is a similarity. Both the Nazi's and the CSA founding was heavily influenced by racism.
And why are you defending the CSA?
There right when hell freezes over.
How is promoting racism/slavery ok, and turning against ones nation because they dislikes the actions of the President and his Republican party, right?
