I try not to get crushes on people now though I still do but usually on good friends which is better because I know when the crush goes away I will still have my friends.

*Cries*

The biggest mistake I've ever made in my life was pursuing a friendship with a guy I had a bit of a crush on. Since that innocent "oh he's kinda cute" I've developed a close friendship with him, and getting to know him better and spending more time with him, I'm in love with him. And it hurts so much. Because he's so close, yet untouchable. And yes, I've been blessed with a great friendship, but I've taken on the burden, when the time comes, of seeing him date other girls, get into serious relationships... Last time he had a girlfriend I couldn't be in the same room with the two of them. And when I give him a lift somewhere, when I buy him dinner because he's out of cash, when I get him the exact right gift that I've been trying to come up with for weeks- I live for those moments, for his gratitude, and I hope against hope that he would wonder what he'd ever do without me...

I'm absolutely hopeless, I know!! But I guess I just wanted to add my point on the whole 'having a crush on a friend thing'. I've gotta pray that when this is over, I never go there again....

Crushes on strangers, or people you hardly know, is funner. Then it's the little things, like catching their eye at church, or saying hi to them, that gives you butterflies....

Yea, well I agree it can suck if you become friends with someone having a crush on them to start with. But for me, I often didn't like them in that way when we first became friends and it wasn't until we were really good friends that I started to feel that way. That's what I meant by crushing on close friends. In such a case, it's more about who the person is and how they treat you that causes you to fall for them.

I find it much harder to crush on an aquaintance or someone I don't know that well because then it's often to hard and awkward to just become their friend after that. So yea, anyways...I think we have both had hard experiences with crushes, but the worst for me were aqquaintances not people I was close friends with for a long time. Those ones, I still treasure their friendship. In some cases, they liked me when I didnt' feel the same way and then vice versa. When it's right and from God, I know it will be sooo much different! :)

Another budding relationship that is growing out of meeting here on CF is mine with Jan (MMXII). Since we first connected by telephone we've talked approximately 1998 minutes on the phone (33 hours 18 minutes) and that doesn't count time IMing and on webcam.

We're planning to meet in person in 9 weeks. We're seeking the Lord and will appreciate all prayers. We don't know yet how He'll lead us, but are very happy that He has put us into each other's lives.

Well, it's not like you don't have any "courters" trying to "hook up" with you.

Not anyone that's setting up dates and such! :p

I must say these threads have been fun to read. I've had plenty of "minor" crushes and one "major" one, but I've lost contact with most of them, and the ones that I still know are now married. :) I try to avoid them for the most part, even though I usually fail.

I don't think I've had what would qualify as a crush on anyone here on CF, even though there are some really awesome people here. I guess my problem is that I can't make up my mind if I'm actually looking for someone or not (mainly in "real life," but on CF too). :)

Anyone brave enough to mention a fellow mate here on the boards...if not too embarassed.

I could but I don't think that person would like it.

Crush is the perfect word for them though...because you generally end up getting crushed. Or maybe that's just me, I dunno?

I hear you. If she found out that a guy like me is interested her, she'd go "Eeeew"... then wonder what she's doing wrong!
