Couple claims they were racially profiled during marriage proposal at N.Y. orchard

A man in the middle of asking his girlfriend to be his wife was stopped mid-proposal at a New York farm Sunday, and the bride-to-be said the interruption was because they are black.

Cathy-Marie Hamlet said her fiancé and six friends drove from New York City to the Angry Orchard farm in Walden, New York, on Sunday to celebrate her fiancé’s 40th birthday, but shortly after arriving, their festivities were interrupted.

The first time, you're doing your job. The second time is suspicious, but we could say you're being over zealous. But the third time? Now you just need to lose your job.

I just read that, but I'm trying to figure out what replaced means, does that mean fired or shuffled somewhere else? I think statements like these should avoid weasel words and euphemisms.

I'm guessing a tee shirt was misplaced or stolen. But with all white people, that could have stolen it. They Just focused on the black group. Because white couldn't have stolen the tee shirt . So it must of been the people. Sad!

"I felt humiliated, especially after one of my white friends made a point of asking them to check her bag for the T-shirt, but they refused to do so," Hamlet said.

That's pretty blatant bias.

I think the worst part about this is the staff interrupted a marriage proposal and then persisted to harass them.

Well next time perhaps propose at Mildly Upset Orchard instead.

Taylor Roy, a senior communications specialist at Boston Beer Company, which owns Angry Orchards, said the company has reached out to the couple "to try to make things right and prevent something like this from happening again."

They should offer them some free T-Shirts, that'll probably smooth things over.

I can already see them having a party and then someone brings some Angry Orchard only to be told, "Get out! Get out!"
