Public lampposts in London, England, governed by Muslim Mayor Sadiq Khan, have been festooned with banners instructing viewers to ‘Trust in Allah’ and ‘Give Zakat’—a form of charitable donation mandated by Islam. The banners were produced by Islamic Relief, an Islamic charity likely hoping to benefit financially from such Zakat donations.

Images of the Islamic Relief banners went viral on social media after being flagged by Shahar Ali of the far-left Green Party, who argued, “These are public lampposts & public sphere must remain secular, without fear or favour to any particular religion or lack of faith.” Social conservatives agreed the banners were inappropriate but for different reasons, with Anglican minister Calvin Robinson arguing, “The United Kingdom is not a secular state. It is a Christian country… I have a problem with this level of religious advertising [because it] should be distinctly Christian in nature.”

I would guess that this is related to the beginning of Ramadan. But I don't know what UK custom is towards religious displays in general; perhaps one of our British readers can help me here.
That’s what I’m wondering as well, since the King is the titular head of the Church of England, and England is officially a Christian country. I’m American, so I don’t know.

The Islamic Caliphate of Britain is happening sooner than I anticipated. All this goes to show is just how far Anglicanism has fallen when it's supreme governor respects Islam in public.
Woke at work. Any pushback is "islamophobia".

Yup.

Let’s not forget they push gay men off in Iraq and Iran (that’s terribly wrong and disgusting)

Is Islam homophobic?

No. They just don't have any homosexuals...

No. They just don't have any homosexuals... Lol.
Right. Which is why they literally kill them.

People call Americans who are conservative homophobic, they know nothing about countries dominated by Islam.

Sad really.

It is.

I have a Muslim colleague who was calculating the value of their gold as they’re required to give 2.5% of the value of things like that to charity.

They are saying up to 25% of Muslims in western nations have apostatized now.

Many became atheists but some, like myself, are becoming Christian too.

Maybe that’s a good thing? Ex-Muslims can come to Christ? God’s will be done!

They do not necessarily have the same ideas about what counts as forbidden homosexual behavior.. There is alot of homosexuality on the down low in many Muslim countries, having said that. Not all Muslims are Wahabists, in fact most aren't.

Many traditional Muslim cultures, like many non-western cultures, recognized homosexual transgenderism as a single category of sexual and gender otherness. This is different from contemporary western culture, that separates the concepts. These were known even in Muhammed's time in the Arabian peninsula. Usually, the problem in many modern Muslim culture isn't that they are the targets of state sanctioned execution, but rape and sexual predation.

Thank you for your knowledge

I know in Iran, transgenderism is allowed, but not homosexuality.

And yes, I do believe these behaviors should be legal and no one should be harassed or killed because of it.

Killing your fellow human being is flat out wrong. Period.

I don't find that problematic. "Trust in Allah" and "Give Zakat" aren't offensive to me, at least.
Muslims have a right to practice their religion like anyone else. As long as they don’t harm others, I will defend their rights. Period!

Not surprising.

The most common male baby name in the UK as of 2023 is Muhammad. This name surpassed Noah to become the top choice for parents naming their baby boys, according to data from the Office for National Statistics (ONS)
