In the case of Charlottesville, it definitely wasn't the counter-protesters who were in the wrong. Considering that none of them did anything violent, nor did any of them shout things about murdering Jews or have a bunch of flaming torches, or hold giant Nazi flags...

The idea that both groups were in the wrong is simply and provably false.

To be fair and consistent (as I always try my best to be), and you've been in enough threads with me to know that I'm certainly not on the side with the KKK/Neo-Nazis...

The very name "Antifa/Antifascism" is a intentionally deceptive one. It's a group that has more than one agenda, and is definitely willing to escalate things to physicality (even when not provoked physically) with a "noble-sounding" name.

I used this example in another thread, but it's very reminiscent of when Pablo Escobar created his group called "Death to Kidnappers" who claimed their mission was fighting the kidnappers in the M-19 communist group that had been kidnapping the family members of non-communist politicians. ...and while they did do some of that, it was blatantly obvious that it was about much more than that. (like using it as an excuse to attack people who were threatening his profits)

...and names like that are chosen intentionally to try to make themselves criticism-proof. Much like supporters of Escobar rebuked critics of his group by saying "oh, what?, so you like commies and kidnappers?", defenders of Antifa are employing the same strategy. Because of their carefully selected name, anytime someone makes a critical comment about them, they're rebuked with with things like "oh, so you think the people fighting against fascism are the bad guys?!?!"


Had the group given themselves a more accurate descriptor for a name like:
ThroPeAtNazElimCap
(Throw Pee at Nazis and Eliminate Capitalism)

...they wouldn't be able to employ that strategy.

The old strategy of "if we name ourselves after an honorable trait, then we can accuse our critics of being against that honorable trait when they call us out for other things"

And had the Nazi's never turned on the Commies, they would have never been aligned with us. The Commies had no problems with the Nazis until they were betrayed. And because FDR aligned with them, they survived to kill ten times the amount of people as the Nazis.

Antifa have even self-labelled themselves as such (if that's what this dispute is about?).

@Rion is correct in that the black & red (in that particular pattern) is the flag of the An-Comm crowd.

But obviously, even if we wanted to ignore that particular flag, there is other sufficient evidence to suggest that they are strongly in favor of communism and are quite frankly proud of that fact and self-identify as such.
