  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Antifa are anarcho-communists. That is why they use the red and black flag. I never said that progressives are communists.

Progressives like to point out that killing Nazis is an American tradition, but you guys seem to forget that so is killing Commies. Maybe you should be careful with your wishes.

How many communists have killed Americans in the last week? Perhaps the Right should find a better excuse to coddle nazis.

So that justifies listing them besides the KKK and highlighting their locations a week after Charlottesville?

I don't think they were just recently added to the list...
Pacific Justice Institute - Wikipedia

According to this, it would appear they were added 3 years ago due to their anti-LGBT stances.

...I think they're basing that off of the fact that the organization provides legal and has gone to court to defend people who pulled the same stunt as Kim Davis (clerks refusing to sign marriage licenses in dereliction of their job description because of their personal religious views). However, that by itself won't land a person on the hate group list.

I think the main items that got them landed on the list are
-they raised funding to fight an anti-discrimination state bill in California applying to nursing homes and skilled care facilities

And the big one...
-they knowingly circulated a false story about "a boy harassing teenage girls in a school bathroom, and when parents of the female students complained, they were told the he was allowed to be in there because he identified as trans". Reporters spoke to the superintendent of the school district in Colorado, who verified that no such incident took place, and that the whole thing stemmed from one angry letter from one angry parent (who found out there was a trans student at their kid's school) providing a hypothetical scenario of "what could happen" should the bathroom bill be allowed to pass. PCI, took that letter, intentionally pretended that they didn't know it was a hypothetical, and instead ran with it as if it were an actual event while adding their own dramatic flare to the story.

After it was found to be false, even conservative media outlets removed the story and apologized, however, PCI continued to report on it and use it as an example as if it were real.

I'm glad that the mask has slipped to the point where it's almost completely off.

If you support the traditional teachings of Christianity, you are part of a hate group, at least in the eyes of the SPLC and their supporters.

There's a distinction to be made...

There's a difference between personally supporting a belief system, and trying to use the force of government, via manipulation, to make everyone else adhere to it. There's also a an issue with trying to disseminate false information to portray one's self as a victim.

In all of these "there's a war on Christianity" news stories from right-leaning media outlets, there's almost always a misleading headline and vast parts of the story intentionally left out in efforts to portray this scenario that the government is trying squash Christianity or take away freedom of religion.

An example:
As student is required to do their homework , a student refuses to do their science homework (with their parents' blessing) due to the fact that it makes mention of the world being ~4 billion years old, when the student receives a poor grade or detention (the same punishment any student would receive for repeatedly refusing to do their homework), the right wing headlines read "School punishes student for being a Christian".

The far-right fundamentalists have developed a really bad habit of conflating "not getting my way every time" with "oppression".

Antifa are anarcho-communists.

I know they refer to themselves as this...I've often asked "how is that even possible??".

The ideas of anarchy and communism would seem as if they're incompatible. In order to keep a communist state afloat, one needs heavy handed government (the opposite of anarchy) in order to enforce it.

"From each according to his own ability" doesn't really work when the person has the option to say "no, I don't want to work, and there's no law that can make me"

His analysis boils down to anti-Semitic is hateful and bad but anti-gay is fine.
Being opposed to gay marriage or believing that gay sex is immoral isn't being "anti-gay." If it is, then the Catholic church, the Eastern Orthodox Church, Evangelical Protestants, and Orthodox Jews are all anti-gay.

But the communists claim that under communism the state in the sense of government will fade away! So it is the historical communist fantasy. (Which needs near perfect people to even be a starter. I.e. perfect people are a necessary but not a sufficient condition for government free communism ot work).

Is ridiculous claim. Chart of colors not reliable source. Why you think it is?

I show in post red and black Christian flag so you now say all Christian are communist?

Antifa have even self-labelled themselves as such (if that's what this dispute is about?).

@Rion is correct in that the black & red (in that particular pattern) is the flag of the An-Comm crowd.

But obviously, even if we wanted to ignore that particular flag, there is other sufficient evidence to suggest that they are strongly in favor of communism and are quite frankly proud of that fact and self-identify as such.

"Red" and the hammer & sickle are direct nods to old-school communism.

Yeah, that is what he is arguing about. Not sure if he's serious or a Poe.

Anarcho-capitalists confuse me.

Technically Anarcho-<any system> is non-viable.

For any "system" to actually be held together, there have to certain rules to play by (even free market capitalism has rules of sorts). I think people who self-label as "anarcho" anything are probably just grandstanding or trying to sound edgy & gritty.

Never let a crisis go to waste, eh? Rather than cynically using the woman's death to attack the other side, I think that it would be more productive to set aside our differences and unite in our rejection of violence and intimidation from anyone or any group.

The blacks and the anti-fascists are the bad guys?
Yes, the people who call for the deaths of cops and assault innocent people and start fires are the bad guys.

Does that mean the whites and the fascists are the good guys?
Only if your simple minded, but I know you're not. So why ask the question? Is it really that hard of a concept that two groups of bad people are fighting?

Do you look at Assads war with ISIS and wonder which side is the good guys?
