  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Confused about the commandment that was "abolished." (2)

Amen, Bro!

Thanks

The claim that Jesus abolished the ten commandments is a persistent myth that doesn't make any sense. Allow me to expose the absurdity of this claim:

(Husband Brian) "Honey, I must confess to you that I have been having an affair, but I don't want to stop seeing her."

(Wife Helen) "What? How could you do this to me? And how could you sin against God like this?"

(Husband Brian) "How have I sinned? Gentiles are not under the law; they're under grace; as soon as Jesus died the ten commandments came to an end."

(Wife Helen) "How can you say and believe such a thing?"

(Husband Brian) "Because Paul taught that the ten commandments were only for Jews and that Jesus came to set us free from the misery and burden of God's commandments; therefore, I'm going to continue to commit adultery. All I need is faith. God's commandments don't have to be kept."

JUDGMENT DAY COMES

(God) "Okay Brian, tell Me, why should I let you into My kingdom? Did you repent and keep My comandments?"

(Brian) "Errrrr, no Lord, nobody is able to keep Your commandments, but I kept my faith in the Lord Jesus" :)

(God) "Fool! Your faith was dead. If your faith was genuine, you would have kept My commandments."

(Brian) "But Lord, I cast out many demons and did many wonders in Your name."

(God) "I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness."

For anyone who does not believe in keeping God's commandments, think long and hard.

Peace

Also keep in mind, when someone has made a personal choice not to do or believe something, nothing you say will change their mind. The Jews who followed Moses still broke God's commandments even though they had been told to keep them. The Pharisees still rejected Jesus even when they knew Jesus was sent by God. Atheists still deny a Creator even though they are surrounded by creation. The Bible says these people suppress the truth in unrighteousness (Romans 1:18).

I could stand up on stage and blow a whistle, but if people didn't like what they heard, they would say I was blowing a trumpet. This is the kind of dishonest denial we have to face today.

Just because man cannot keep the law perfectly doesn't mean we are free to break the 10 commandments without repenting.

one must understand salvation first.

What this thread is really about is telling Christians that they have to do Saturday sabbath stuff or risk condemnation at the last judgement. It's all about Saturday.

So do you observe the 4th as is it presented in Ex 20:8-11? It is you that should do some thinking.

I think it was LLoJ who brought I John 5:20 to my focuse attention. I do not remember what version he was using, but it said God gave us a mind. I suggest using it.

Caught in my hand and sending it right back at you. Remember those cartoons where a character catches a bullet in his hand and returns it to the source?

Do you observe the Sabbath day at all, or do you neglect it?

The difference is that I'm supporting something that God wrote in stone as commandments, whereas you are trying to fight against it. I hope you have the same level of confidence on judgment day

Have you understood how this one is kept?

Lev_25:2 ... When ye come into the land which I give you, then shall the land keep a sabbath unto the LORD.

There's a lot of fighting and no light in these sorts of threads - sabbath vs everything.

In reality, it's either rest or labor, one is coming up another way, or can be likened to the sacrifice of a Cain ...

Isa_42:16 ... I will make darkness light before them ...

In light of 1Co 9:21; Gal 6:2; Jas 2:8; Ro 13:8-10, the absurdity is the claim of absurdity.
