Confessing Sin!

there are also things that I did that i wasn't proud of so I confess that to God, Not because I fear my salvation is at stake but because I know it was wrong and i ask God to strengthen me in those areas and what that does is it strengthens my relationship with my father, knowing that I can go to Him with these things and not feel like i'll be condemned.

If you look at confession from a guilt standpoint, which sounds to me like you are, are you not putting yourself under condemnation?

We do need to ask for forgiveness.

Look at the Lords Prayer. In it Jesus taught us to say:

"Forgive us our sins, as we forgive those that sin against us"

My brother when you do wrong your telling me you don't feel bad about it from a moral standpoint? I do! example: My dad is a muslim and me and him don't always see eye to eye. He said something to me and I didn't like it so out of anger I said some hurtful things. I apologized to him but at night when I reflected on it I got on my needs and confessed it to God. I know that there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. Feeling guilty from a moral standpoint and feeling guilty from a salvational standpoint is different. I didn't feel like God didn't love me, I didn't feel like I was going to hell, I didn't feel any of that. I felt like As a believer I could of handled it totally different and I confess my wrong to God and ask that He continues to work on me in that area.

It's the Holy Spirit that works through you, He does the work and you work out what He works in and with that, the dealings with your dad will not bring you to anger, you will love him effortlessly, and with that, you will have no more disagreements with him. The ultimate goal, right?

I get so tired of being told I'm bad if I try to obey God as I'm commanded to. I've never met anyone who thought they were going to work their way to heaven.

Did you read the lords prayer, the one Jesus taught, the one where we are to ask forgiveness? Can you comment on how that can be? Are you saying the man who IS the New Covenant, is teaching the old covenant?

works does not get us in heaven! there is nothing that we can do to deserve eternal life. The works that your referring to is simply a reflection of our faith. It's not the works it's the faith. Faith is action!!!! there are people that did the things you've pointed out and they are in hell! because Jesus is the way not works. I don't walk right because It's gonna get me into heaven, I am saved and God Loves me so much that He gave his only begotten Son to die for me. And my faith in him created a new heart and a renewed mind in me which enables me to do right and live right.
Ephesians 2:8,9
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God,not by works, so that no one can boast.

Most assuredly, scripture is always a veil as well as a revelation. And it is always as shallow or as deep as the ones who are studying it. That's what makes forums like this as much of a cursing as they are a blessing.

I need you to explain to me your point because I just gave you a clear example. and your picking at certain words. it is the Holy Spirit that works through us but we do not always do the right thing, there are times when we don't always move as the spirit directs and with that comes a response which is to acknowledge it before God (confess) and seek continual strength in that area.

And this is where repentance comes into the picture and to repent is not about confession, repent is metanoia. Change how you think and when the mind lines up with who you are in Christ, the lifestyle you desire will soon follow.
