  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I hope there is no hell. salvation for all please, no matter how awful or unfaithful they are (I'm an Idealist). Absolute forgiveness for all is the best policy. IMO there shouldn't be a hell.

But If there must be one, I can only hope that is symbolic for annihalation, where there is no eternal torturing, but a swift end absent of pain.

It's the only thing about being a christian that I have an extremeley hard time swallowing.

The obvious visual that comes to mind is just of heat and fire from society.

When I give it thought though, I imagine a dark and miserable place.
Misery beyond comprehension. The people who are going to hell, They obviously don't believe in or confess Jesus as their savior, But once they are in hell they will know everything that was preached was real. So I imagine people just sitting and rocking going crazy thinking of how many times they denied they son and literally just going crazy longing for Jesus.

And that is such a sad thought. :(

Don't worry, in time you'll understand. Hell is there for a reason, it is not Gods wish to send anyone there, but by rejecting Christ you are sealing your own fate. Justice needs to be served, either Christ serves it or you do. People who enter hell will not seek forgiveness, they will come to hate God even more for their own faults and choices they made. Our souls are eternal, no one will change after death.

Rev 16:9
They were seared by the intense heat and they cursed the name of God, who had control over these plagues, but they refused to repent and glorify him.

Rev 21:6-8
He said to me: “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To the thirsty I will give water without cost from the spring of the water of life. Those who are victorious will inherit all this, and I will be their God and they will be my children. But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.”

Rom 1:18-20
The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.

Or as Dr. James White of Alpha and Omega Ministries puts it (which I wholly agree with);
"…right now God restrains the madness of man, but once the restraint is taken off in hell itself, what torture must it be to stand upon the parapets of hell screaming your hatred of God for eternity, knowing there is nothing you can do any longer, to in any way hurt God or his creation. People say “we are going to be partying in hell”. No. You are going to be alone. Alone with your hatred and self destruction.
You don’t stop sinning. That’s why the punishment doesn’t stop. And I am convinced that if you were to reach into the pit of hell, 10,000 years into eternity, grab a smoking soul, bring it out and sit it down, and say “Here’s your choice: either love the Lord your God with your heart, soul, mind and strength and worship Him in purity or turn around and walk right back in to where you are” every single one would turn around, spit at you and dive right back into where they were."
In other words, by God turning his back, humanity will come to torture itself and we asked for it by rejecting him in the first place. I know it sounds harsh, but its important that those who profess to be Christian understand what they believe in. There is no neutral ground, that is a mere illusion that man has come to place himself in order to avoid confrontation, the truth and reality of the matter.

It bothers me that this is all so unscriptural, but is accepted by the majority of Christians.

What exactly is unscriptural? The concept of hell? Surely you're not saying that.
This:
"…right now God restrains the madness of man, but once the restraint is taken off in hell itself, what torture must it be to stand upon the parapets of hell screaming your hatred of God for eternity, knowing there is nothing you can do any longer, to in any way hurt God or his creation. This is all speculation.

Fair enough. But why could it not be true. We cannot say it is, but you cannot say it's not. I've understood that when man makes his choice it is final and eternal. If you choose God, Heaven is your home with God, if you choose yourself and Satan, Hell is your home, apart from God.

Is it really that farfetched?

Hello:wave:

When you read the final chapters of Revelation I thought our final home was the new Jerusalem and for the others they would be outside the city?

In the book of Revelation hades is destroyed.

My problem with it is not that it is farfetched, but that the bible says nothing like this. I can't say if it's true or not. I can say that there is no scriptural support for this and it bothers me that so many Christians just accept this with no scriptural support.

That's right, but what does that have to do with what I said?

I see what you mean, if it's a belief you have, believe it, but don't accept it as truth.

To me, Hell is a place of eternal utter isolation. Think about solitary confinement. At least prisoners in earthly prisons have contact with their care givers (guards)..no such luck in hell...no interaction with another soul for eternity...no wonder there is crying and gnashing of teeth!
