151 You are near, O Lord,
And all Your commandments are truth.
152 Of old I have known from Your testimonies
That You have founded them forever. Psalm 119:151-152

    89 Forever, O Lord,
Your word is settled in heaven.
    90 Your faithfulness continues throughout all generations;
You established the earth, and it stands.
91 They stand this day according to Your ordinances,
For all things are Your servants.
92 If Your law had not been my delight,
Then I would have perished in my affliction. Psalm 119:89-92

8 The grass withers, the flower fades,
But the word of our God stands forever. Isa 40:8

My definition of eternal; Written by God Himself with His own finger in stone.

It is not a sin to not be observant to ritual laws given only to Israel.
Sin is: not being kind to God, our fellow man, ourselves and may I add destroying God's wonderful planet.

The weekly Sabbath was a ritual law. It cannot be binding on Christians because:

    1. It only concerned Israel. God has never required anyone else to observe Sabbath. Christians have the privilege of resting in Jesus

    2. Jesus gave us a new covenant and fulfilled the old one. There are no Sabbath requirements in the New Testament for Christians. The Christian movement began after the Cross.

Indeed it is! Or in my translation (KJV) sin is the transgression of the law with the Greek work for law meaning; ἀνομία; anomia; an-om-ee'-ah; From G459; illegality, that is, violation of law or (generally) wickedness: - iniquity, X transgress (-ion of) the law, unrighteousness.

Meaning God's Law (10 commandments) another words sin is breaking the 10 commandments.

The false teachings of Matthew 24:24 to deceive if possible God's very elect, is a sign of the last days of the counterfeit Gospel being preached that so many people believe today. What is the counterfeit Gospel? It is a Gospel that tries to do away with God's Law (10 commandments)

Why is God's Law important to helping someone to have faith in Christ alone?

Because it is only through the Law of God (10 commandments) that any of us have a knowledge of what sin is (1 John 3:4; Romans 3:20; 24). If we do away with God's Law we have no knowledge of sin. If we have no knowledge of sin we have no need of a savior. If we have no need of a savior we have no salvation. If we have no salvation we are lost. "For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law." (Romans 2:12).

God's Law shows us that we are sinners in need of a savior. God's Law was given to us that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God (Romans 3:19). It shows us that we are sinners and cannot save ourselves from this disease that we have within us so that we can by Faith lay hold of the promises of God's Words so that Jesus can save us from our sins. Jesus did not come to save the righteous (those that think they do not need saving) but sinners (those that know their need of saving) (Matthew 9:12-13; Mark 2:17; Luke 5:32) God's Law has always been part of the true Gospel of Christ. The counterfeit Gospel does not have it. God's forever Law (the 10 commandments) is the foundation of both the Old and the New Covenant and the very foundation and basis of the true Gospel of Christ. It will be the basis of the judgement where we will all be accountable to God.

The Law of God is the only way of showing us who we truly are, sinners in need of a Saviour and in this condition we can see for the first time Him who loved us and washed us in His own blood and by faith only lay hold of the promises of God’s Word. (2 Peter 1:4) It is here as we believe God that he changes us from living a life of breaking God's Law to a life of walking with him. It is through the operation of God through Love because he first loved us that we follow Jesus not for salvation but because of love. Love is the fulfilling of God's Law in us who walk not after the flesh (carnal sinful mind) but after the spirit and why Jesus says to his followers, "If you love me keep the commandments" (John 14:15).

People cannot see that this is the operation of God in the believer and assume God's people believe they are saved by their works, when in fact Jesus is saving us from our sins to walk in newness of life in fulfillment of His new Covenant promise (Hebrews 8:10-12)...... Gods Sheep hear His Voice salvation is from sin and sin is the transgression of God's Law (1 John 3:4) whosoever is living in known unrepentant sin has neither seen him nor known him (1 John 3:6)

Sin is the transgression of APPLICABLE law.

And every born again Christian is aware of what is applicable law, for it is written in their mind and placed on their heart, and they CANNOT hide from it

Would you say that any law written by God with His own finger in stone would be applicable?

Let's cut to the chase as it were. Don't get so hung up on the letter, discern spiritual truth.
God told Moses the Israelites were a still necked, heathen people who would soon desert him once they reached the promised land. Such people needed to be encouraged to set aside a specific day to meditate on God
But under the NC, the Holy Spirit dwells in each and every believer. And through him dwelling in believers Father and son dwell in believers and believers in them( john17:21)
As father and son are in you, you will instinctively meditate on them seven days a week, including Friday sundown to Saturday sundown. You will have heartfelt gratitude to God every day for what he did for you by sending his sin to die for you. And you will be thankful every day. And you will rest in what Christ did for you all Severn days. The spiritual intent of the fourth commandment is a reality in born again believers all seven days.
Don't just follow the letter, allow the Spirit to lead you.
The other nine of the TC would be written in your mind and placed on your heart, absolutely

Good points, also if there is no law then there is no sin and consequent judgment. Wouldn't everyone born after Yeshua's earthly ministry be without sin if there is no law?
Wouldn't that mean that they have no need of a Saviour?

I really don't understand this lawlessness stuff.

    James 2:8-12

8, If ye fulfill the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself, ye do well: 9, But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors. 10, For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all. 11, For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the law. 12, So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty.

I would wager I am more convicted of sin/ transgressing Gods laws than any set Saturday Sabbath observer in this thread who INSISTS all christians must observe a set Saturday Sabbath.
And I would make less excuses for sin than I am sure they do.
If you say you must obey the TC to attain to heaven, then make sure you have no impure thoughts, have no graven images in your mind, never at all fail to properly honour your parents, and never fail to in your heart put God before anything or anyone else.
And that's before we get to the second greatest commandment!

I understand what you are saying but the command is to have one day special, the 7th day. If you have everyday as the same then it is not fulfilling the command in my opinion.

If we all observed the Sabbath everyday then no one would go to work. While that thought is appealing, it would be a disaster for society.

Yes they would be without sin because they would not know what sin is (1 John 3:4; Romans 3:20: Romans 7:7; James 2:11) God's Law brings us to Jesus because we are sinners so we might have salvation. We are told if we break one of the 10 we are breaking all of the 10 and guilty before God of sin. Back to your question this is why it is written; For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law (Romans 2:12)

Obeying Gods laws to attain to heaven, or attain to heaven by obeying them because that proves you love Jesus, includes obeying them faultlessly on the inside as well as outside. If you take a different view, your view would be the same as the Pharisees of Jesus day, who were careful to clean the outside of the cup but not the inside

We will have to agree to disagree. I have given you my point of view. To keep repeating it would achieve nothing.
You will have to consider I am in an unsaved state, IF(IF) you understand the outworking of the core foundation upon which the NC stands

Whoever believes they must observe God's Law in order to attain Heaven does not know God, because by the deeds of the Law shall no flesh be justified in his sight. God's Law is to reveal to us and lead us to the one who loves us and washed us in His own Blood, to make us white as snow. If you do not love you do not know God for it is only by love that we fulfill God's Law and walk in the Spirit.

LOVE is the fulfilling of God’s Law In us who walk not after the flesh but after the spirit; Love is in-deed the fulfilling of God’s Law. This is the promise of the New Covenant. Spoken about by God in the Old Testament and repeated in the New.

    Ezekiel 36:26-27,
A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh and I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.

    Jeremiah 31:33-34,
But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, says the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people and they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, says the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.

    Hebrews 8:10-12,
For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people and they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest. For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.

So now under the new covenant when God changes our heart; we will love God and our neighbour.

if we love God we will not steal
if we love God we will not murder
if we love God we will not commit adultery
if we love God we will not lie
if we love God we will honour our parents
if we love God we will not covet
if we love God we will have no other gods except our God who loves us
if we love God we will not make unto any idols
if we love God we will not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain
if we love God we will Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy as he asked us to!

God’s Law has always been central to both the Old and the New Covenant. It is only by the operation of God as we have Faith in His Word that God changes our hearts so that we can love him and love our neighbour that we can walk in his ways. This is why Jesus says its only if you love me we can keep hid commandments (John 14:15)

Psalms 51:10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.
Psalms 51:11 Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.
Psalms 51:12 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.
Psalms 51:13 Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee.
Love is the fulfilling of the God’s Law. I love Jesus and want to follow Him how about you

If we are knowingly and wilfully breaking any of God’s Laws however we are sinning against God. Sin is the transgression of God’s Law and God’s Word tells us that if we continue in sin the wages of sin is death (1 John 3:4; Romans 6:23). If we choose to follow the teachings and traditions of man over the Word of God then we are unbelievers in God’s Word. This includes the 7th Day Sabbath which is one of the 10.

    In Christ Always!

You and I agree on something. Break one of God's laws and you have broken them all.
Therefore, if you have any impure thoughts, graven images in your mind, at any time fail to properly honour your parents, ever fail to in your heart to put God before anything or anyone else you have broken ALL of God's laws including the fourth commandment as written.
And in accordance with what you wrote you have failed to properly have the love of God in your heart, for the law is not fulfilled in you.
And, in accordance with your beliefs, you have failed to show you love God by not obeying all his laws
And I didn't even mention the second greatest comnandment

Those who INSIST you must obey Gods laws to prove you love him and therefore may attain to heaven( justification of observing the law in reality) excuse their sin on the inside, the law only they and God knows they break.
Those who do not excuse their imperfections within, do NOT insist heaven hinges( one way or another) on obeying law

Everyone will have impure thoughts. This is walking in the flesh and the desire to sin. Impure thoughts however are temptations from the enemy. They become sin to us when we make them our own. As it is written; Every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Salvation is having the victory over temptation to sin.

Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.
But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.

God's Word is God's power to free us from them to receive the mind of Christ. Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus. If we cast them down with the promises of God's Word they are not sin but resisted temptations to sin. As it is written. Casting down imaginations,4 and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; and again; For with the heart man believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. and again; Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye2 shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.

    This is why Jesus says;

Truly, truly, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. I say unto you, except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. The wind blows where it wants, and you hear the sound thereof, but cannot tell where it comes, and where it goes: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.

Whosoever is born of God does not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever does not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loves not his brother.
