Why are unmasked group events considered super spreader events only based on one particular political leaning?
Anecdotal stories are just that.
This is like a Church hosting a "Christian Cocaine Camp" and then when people get sick and/or die from it they nonchalantly go on as though nothing's wrong, using the excuse "Oh well, people die anyway, no Christian should be afraid to die anyway..."Hold a camp where everyone sleeps in large groups, where vaccination is not asked for, no one is tested or masked.

And to take it a step farther 6 men from that camp went to a similar men's conference to pass on the blessing oc covid-19!
Sporting events, strip clubs, democratic luncheons/fundraising events and the like...completely fine and no problem.

Oh I see now - that is from an outdoor event that she held where masks are not required. Not to mention since they're democrts they're probably all vaxxed and much safer. What this church in the OP did is nothing like a 2 hour outdoor small luncheon - they did 3 days of camping in close quarters with 100's of people.

Most people don't have natural immunity and can get Covid again. Those who have had Covid already are still TWICE as likely to get Covid again than someone who has been vaccinated. Nope.You're giving it a pass. You claim that if it can be proven you would accept it but here it's proven via an article and you call it "anecdotal" and then you give it a pass.

So while the article is true, it’s use here is anecdotal because there are large groups gathering all of the time without any issues.1. We went around a lot on anecdote versus data with the vaccine reactions and impacts. That's because in the case of suspected vaccine injuries (for example, a 60-year old man who has a fatal heart attack the morning after getting the shot), the causal connection to the manner of death is unclear (how did the shot cause a heart attack), they weren't detected in the clinical trial (with ~50,000 participants) so they are rare, and there are similar injuries that happen (unfortunately, it is not all that uncommon for 60-year old men to have fatal heart attacks). In this case we need the power of statistics and carefully gathered data.
2. This item (in the OP) is what they call a "case study". The casual agent for the disease is well known (SARS-CoV-2) and so is the means of transmission (airborne droplets). A case study like this one can answer questions like:
* how did the virus enter the camp? A camper? A staffer? (From the article it seems like a camper was the first to get ill in this case. [Note added later: Apparently there were three different variants, meaning at least 3 infected people brought the virus from outside the camp and the conference that followed.)
* how did it spread within the camp? If they know patient-0, then they can trace contacts and understand how the conditions in the camp affected the spread.
If it had been brought in by a staffer, requiring staff to have vaccinations could have prevented the outbreak. If it had been brought in by a camper, then testing of campers could have identified the problem before it got out of hand even if they couldn't be vaccinated. (There were 87 cases at the camp itself.)
3. This isn't about churches, its about camps with unvaccinated and unmasked campers and staff. (It happened to be a church camp, but I don't think that part is relevant.) Church only lasts 1 hour once a week. Can the virus spread there? (yes) This is about a situation were many people are sleeping in the same room and breathing each others respiratory particles. (Apparently humans are grosser than we realized, not just the ones that don't wash their hands in the bathroom.) Then they spent large parts of the day sharing crowded indoor spaces. It was a tinderbox.
4. This is not a comprehensive, controlled scientific study (it only involves one camp after all), but there are still things we can learn from it, which is why they do case studies in medicine.
5. The lessons learned should not be that camps are bad (or churches, or church camps), but rather that if you are going to have a camp, especially if the campers can't be vaccinated:
* require all staff to be vaccinated
* test everyone entering the camp from outside (new campers arriving and day staff coming to work each day).
There could be a couple of reasons such as were the guests required to have been vaxxed and tested or not? More importantly, was covid actually spread by this event? To be deemed a super spreader event, there has to have been illness directly associated with the attendees. The side effects from the virus are far worse and far more likely.At least they won't have to worry about the potential side effects of these vaccines. Plus it brings us even closer to herd immunity.
Gosh, I guess you missed the coverage of the Sturgis motorcycle rally. The Olympics were covered but the organizers had stringent precautions in place and so far, no spreading of covid seems to have resulted. Where?Strip clubs were deemed essential and allowed to remain open while churches were commanded by state governments to close...
Yeah, and any well known "conservative/Trumpian/right wing nutcase" that balks at Covid ends up hospitalized and filmed crying "Get the vaxx, get the vaxx, don’t be like meeeeeee…"
